    Job Title: TEMP - F&NS Office Clerk

    Wage/Hour Status: Non-exempt

    Reports To: Assistant Director of Food & Nutrition Services

    Pay Grade: Temp 035

    Primary Purpose

    On a temporary basis, the Office Clerk serves as the receptionist for the Food & Nutrition Services Department and provides clerical and administrative support to ensure the efficient operation of the department.

    Qualifications

    Minimum Education/Certification

    High School Diploma or GED required; higher education preferred.

    Special Knowledge/Skills

    • Perform clerical office duties as assigned.
    • Strong customer service, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
    • Proficient skills in word processing and data entry.
    • Ability to multitask and prioritize; handle office matters as they arise in an expeditious, proactive, and professional manner.
    • Ability to use district and department software programs with reasonable assistance to perform job duties and responsibilities.
    • Possess a valid Texas Class C driver''s license; must have a personal vehicle and be willing to drive it for department purposes (mileage will be reimbursed).
    • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.

    Minimum Experience

    One year of general clerical/secretarial experience or equivalent experience strongly preferred.

    Major Responsibilities and Duties

    • Answer multi-line telephone calls, provide assistance, take reliable messages, or forward calls to the appropriate personnel.
    • Provide excellent customer service by greeting customers and visitors to the Food & Nutrition Services Department, directing them appropriately, and communicating professionally while following District and state policies and procedures.
    • Perform routine clerical duties as assigned, including scheduling interviews, preparing interview locations, and providing oversight of interview testing.
    • Assist with the onboarding process for new hires by preparing onboarding materials, coordinating schedules, and providing administrative support throughout the hiring process.
    • Support Area Supervisors with assigned projects and administrative tasks to ensure efficient department operations.
    • Assist with the coordination and distribution of employee safety shoes, including maintaining records and communicating with staff regarding distribution schedules.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Equipment Used

    Telephone, computer and peripherals, copier, 10-key calculator, scanner, laminator, and other standard office equipment.

    Supervisory Responsibilities

    None.

    Working Conditions

    Must maintain emotional control and exercise sound judgment, reasoning, and problem-solving skills while under stress. Must demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to interpret procedures and analyze data for decision-making. Use of a personal vehicle for in-district and occasional in-state travel. Prolonged sitting and repetitive hand motions. Occasional prolonged and irregular hours during periods of high departmental activity.
