About the Job

The purpose of this position is to complete time sensitive special projects that improve the administration of curriculum and student service in the School of Physics and Astronomy. This position requires a high level of data analysis and Canvas use expertise, as well as the ability to apply data results to improve advising and the SPA student experience. This job is project based and reports to the Academic Programs Director.

Responsibilities

• Data Analysis 40%

• Review and analyze SRT student data and comments and make recommendations to Academic Programs Director to improve curriculum and student service.

• Review and analyze computation survey responses and bring dataset and recommendations to Academic Programs Director and faculty for review.

• Special Projects 60%

• Student service improvement - involves meeting with Physics and Astrophysics DUGS and student services leadership to assemble workshop and advising calendars for the coming academic year.

• Create and implement sustainable computation Canvas course for Python.

• Coursework data analysis project for Physics faculty.

• Other duties of similar scope as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• BS degree in STEM field
• Data analysis and statistics expertise
• Strong attention to detail
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality in working with student data

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of computer science principles as applied to physics problems
• Advanced proficiency in Excel and Google suite
• Industrious attitude and ability to see opportunity in challenges

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $16.00 per hour - $20.00 per hour; depending on education/qualifications/experience.
