What You'll Do
As a Maintenance Assistant, you'll play a vital role in maintaining a safe and comfortable environment by:
- Performing routine maintenance and repairs throughout the facility.
- Conducting preventative maintenance on building systems and equipment.
- Completing required facility inspections and maintenance logs, including water temperatures, call lights, generators, and fire alarm systems.
- Troubleshooting maintenance issues and completing repairs in a timely manner.
- Assisting with the upkeep of the facility grounds and exterior areas.
- Coordinating maintenance activities with other departments to minimize disruption to resident care.
- Reporting supply needs, equipment concerns, and repair recommendations to the Maintenance Supervisor.
- Assisting with the orientation and training of new maintenance team members as needed.
- Supporting the Maintenance Department and serving as a resource in the absence of the Maintenance Supervisor.
- Participating in required training, staff meetings, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Performing other maintenance-related duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For
- Previous maintenance experience in healthcare, long-term care, commercial facilities, or a similar environment preferred.
- General knowledge of building maintenance, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical systems.
- Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment.
- Ability to read, write, and follow written and verbal instructions.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with other departments.
- Ability to safely perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
