The New England Aquarium's Rescue & Rehabilitation team responds to and provides medical care to stranded sea turtles. The primary responsibilities for this position will include; performing husbandry duties in the sea turtle hospital, training volunteer teams, providing care and treatments to cold-stunned sea turtles, responding to hotline calls when appropriate, managing the stranding database, and other administrative tasks.This position works out of the New England Aquarium's Animal Care Center at the Quincy Shipyard in Quincy MA. Employees are required to find their own transportation to the facility. The regular schedule will be 40 hours per week. Typical hours will be 8a – 4:30p, but flexibility to work varied hours and days of the week is strongly preferred. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSProvide husbandry and care for animals collected through the Rescue Program.Assist with health assessments and medical procedures on animals, including restraint.Assist with reporting requirements and other administrative responsibilities as necessary.Assist with necropsies as needed.Maintain records and databases.
