Temp to Hire Controller

Position Summary

Our client is seeking an experienced Controller to oversee accounting operations within a growing multi-entity organization. This hands-on leadership role will be responsible for ensuring the integrity of financial reporting, managing month-end close activities, supporting financial planning initiatives, and driving process improvements across the accounting function.

The ideal candidate will bring a strong foundation in accounting, experience operating in a multi-unit environment, and the ability to effectively manage competing priorities while maintaining accuracy and compliance. This position offers the opportunity to contribute strategically while remaining actively involved in day-to-day accounting operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage all aspects of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process.
• Oversee general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, and financial reporting activities.
• Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements and supporting schedules.
• Manage accounting operations across multiple business entities.
• Oversee intercompany transactions and reconciliation processes.
• Maintain and enhance internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures.
• Partner with operational and executive leadership to support financial decision-making.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis initiatives.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, reporting, and operational efficiencies.
• Develop and maintain clear documentation of accounting procedures and workflows.

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibilities within a Controller or senior accounting capacity.
• Strong understanding of the full accounting cycle and financial reporting.
• Experience supporting multi-entity and/or multi-location organizations.
• Knowledge of intercompany accounting and consolidations.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting systems.

Preferred

• Experience within hospitality, restaurant, retail, or other multi-unit operating environments.
• Experience with Restaurant365 (R365).
• FP&A, budgeting, and forecasting experience.
• Exposure to business intelligence, data analytics, or AI-enabled tools.
• CPA designation or progress toward certification.
