Vertical Description:
The Senior Accountant – Accounts Receivable is a key contributor within the Finance and Accounting team, responsible for leading and executing complex accounts receivable and revenue accounting activities. This role requires advanced technical accounting knowledge, strong analytical skills, and the ability to operate with a high degree of autonomy. The position partners cross functionally with internal stakeholders and external customers to ensure accurate financial reporting, timely collections, strong internal controls, and continuous process improvement in a fast paced environment.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Lead and execute the end-to-end accounts receivable process, including invoicing, collections, cash application, account reconciliations, credit limit reviews, customer setup, AR aging analysis, and ongoing account maintenance.
  • Serve as a key finance partner to Sales, Commercial, Customer Service, and other internal stakeholders on AR- and revenue-related matters, providing guidance and resolving complex issues.
  • Perform and review monthly accounts receivable reconciliations; investigate, resolve, and document variances or discrepancies.
  • Play a significant role in month-end and quarter-end close activities related to accounts receivable and revenue, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Prepare, review, and post journal entries related to AR, revenue, and cash with minimal supervision.
  • Support compliance with revenue recognition and AR-related accounting policies and assist in maintaining documentation to strengthen internal controls.
  • Lead or support AR system enhancements, testing, implementations, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Act as a primary point of contact for internal and external audit requests related to AR and revenue; prepare schedules and support walkthroughs as needed.
  • Prepare and analyze ad hoc financial reports and analyses for management, providing clear insights and recommendations.
  • Support special projects, cross-functional initiatives, and other accounting duties, as assigned.
  • Provide knowledge sharing, guidance, or informal mentoring to less experienced accounting team members, as appropriate.
 
Requirements:
  • 5–7 years of progressive accounting experience, with significant experience in accounts receivable and revenue accounting. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong knowledge of general accounting principles, including complex journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Advanced understanding of accounts receivable processes and revenue-related transactions.
  • Experience with ERP systems (Oracle or similar preferred).
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., VLOOKUPs, PivotTables) and strong overall Microsoft Office skills.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and time-management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • High attention to detail and the ability to meet firm deadlines while delivering accurate, high-quality work.
  • Works with discretion and integrity, safeguarding confidential and sensitive financial information.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain accounting concepts to non-finance stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required
