    Description

    Responsible for performing all aspects of patient exam activities of nuclear medicine at a technical level that will produce high quality images consistent with established policies and procedures at a technical level typically requiring general supervision.
    Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
    1. Specializes in performing diagnostic studies in nuclear medicine imaging.
    2. Obtains patient history, explains standard procedures, and addresses patient concerns to foster a sense of comfort and confidence to patients and ensure the needs of individual patients are met.
    3. Operates and maintains all assigned nuclear scanning imaging equipment to ensure it works properly.
    4. Performs diagnostic studies including measuring and preparing concentrations of radioactive isotopes in specified body areas to obtain diagnostic information that correctly captures the images requested by a physician.
    5. Properly identifies, prepares and/or administers medications/substances that are within the technologist s scope of practice as prescribed by a licensed independent practitioner.
    6. Completes quality assurance processes and practices radiation safety in order to reduce exposure to patients, staff and self. Complies with all The Joint Commission, federal, state, and local regulatory laws, standards, and protocols.
    7. Maintains all required documentation, logs, charts, forms and records in paper and electronic formats.
    8. Maintains an adequate supply of all consumables to perform quality testing.
    9. Performs all routine daily, weekly, monthly, and periodic maintenance and function checks following established protocol for all imaging equipment.
    10. May assist other areas of radiology as assigned.
    11. Performs other related duties as required and directed.


    Requirement description :
      • Graduation from an AMA-approved school of nuclear medicine - [REQUIRED]
      • Registered in Nuclear Medicine with the ARRT or the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) - [REQUIRED] [DOCUMENT]
    • Health system-wide profile standards

      • References NOT required.
      • A skills checklist completed within one year of application for RN specialties is required. All other professions outside of Nursing are not required but preferred.
      • Michigan license verification is required for nurses. Please provide LARA and Nursys; if there is a license hit, it would be in the traveler s best interest to provide a write-up of what happened for the manager's review.
      • Physical copies of certifications are only required in the profile if listed above.
      • Full-time employees of McLaren are not eligible for contract hire within six months of employment.


    CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS :
    • BLS
    • ARRT

    ADDITIONAL LICENSE REQUIREMENTS :
    Weekend Requirements : call: every other week Monday-Friday 4p-10p and 7a-10p Saturday Sunday
    On Call Requirements : call: every other week Monday-Friday 4p-10p and 7a-10p Saturday Sunday
