Responsibilities:
Chair the single stair technical advisory group created by a February executive order, with recommendations due in February 2027.
Introduce a code change amendment to redefine high-rise buildings to meet national standards, aiming to make 6-8 story buildings more feasible.
Propose several code change amendments to facilitate the construction of small multifamily developments like triple-deckers.
Conduct all code-related research, cost assessments, recommendation drafting, and material creation for official meetings.
Prepare briefs for the EOHLC Secretary on any code-related policy developments.
Engage with external stakeholders to gather information related to code changes.
Draft actual code changes to be submitted to the BBRS.
Provide additional support for the Assistant Director of Policy related to Building Code Development and Research.
Preferred Skills:
Familiarity with local and/or state building codes.
Knowledge of historical changes to the state building code and necessary process reforms.
Research and discovery capabilities.
Writing and material development skills for communicating research, findings, and code proposals.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Demonstrated good judgment in decision-making.
