    Title: Temp - Administrative - Patient Access Representative (Days) Peterborough, NH

    Description:

    The Patient Access Representative is responsible for registration and central scheduling for services rendered at Monadnock Community Hospital. Responsible for duties which may include but are not limited to performing scheduling, registration, verifying demographic and insurance information, obtaining authorizations for treatment, patient pre-admission, admission and discharge functions, and Emergency Department registration. Provides exemplary customer service. The Patient Access Representative works collaboratively with other departments of the hospital as well as physician practices in support of our patients. This job description in no way states or implies that these are the only duties to be performed by this employee. The employee will be required to follow any other instructions and to perform any other duties as directed.

    Job Requirements:

    1. Greet
      customers, collect, and enter demographic and insurance/financial
      information into computer database.


      1. Utilizes
        additional electronic systems and insurance web sites as needed.


    2. Thoroughly
      explains and secures hospital and patient legal forms (i.e., Advance
      Directives, Conditions of Services, Consent for treatment, Important
      Message from Medicare, EMTALA).

    3. Accurately
      completes patient registration for outpatient ancillary departments,
      outpatient hospital services, surgical procedures, and inpatient hospital
      admissions.


      1. Registrations
        to include laboratory, radiology, surgeries, wounds, oncology, anti-coag
        clinic, MOA radiology, cardiology, RHC s, PFT s, Occ health and emergency
        department.

      2. Review
        of credit and collection report.

      3. Schedule
        lab and X-ray services.


    4. Verifies insurance eligibility and
      benefits. Obtains insurance authorizations for outpatient hospital
      services, surgical procedures, and inpatient hospital admissions within
      required time frames.

    5. Collaborates
      with patients, physician offices and ancillary services regarding
      coordination of lab and X-ray exams to facilitate timely and effective
      care.


      1. Utilize
        hospital and physician computer systems to document for provider
        correspondence.


    6. Accepts
      and returns patient calls using exceptional telephone etiquette.

    7. Maintains
      patient confidentiality per HIPAA regulations.

    8. Adheres
      to safety practices, reports accidents/hazards and maintains equipment as
      outlined in hospital and departmental policies. Keeps office neat, clean,
      organized, and free of clutter.

    9. Must be
      able to perform essential job duties in at least two Patient Access
      service areas including the Emergency Department.

    10. Uses
      interpersonal skills effectively to build and maintain collaborative
      working relationships with co-workers, internal and external customers
      that lead to more effective communication and higher level of productivity
      and accuracy.
