Position Title:Telephone Operator II - Telecommunications

POSITION SUMMARY:
Provides efficient telecommunication services to the REHAB hospital staff, patients, and the community by providing accurate switchboard service and in a courteous, friendly and professional manner in directing phone calls to the appropriate department and services. Assists with coordination of emergency responses by following established protocols and procedures of the facility security regulations. Maintains daily reports and information for the facility.
Wage Range: $16.26/hour to $24.40/hour. The actual wage is dependent on the applicant's relevant experience and qualifications for this position. The wage range for this position may be subject to change in the future depending on a variety of factors such as market conditions, business needs, legal developments, and other appropriate factors.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
High school graduate
Skills/Experience:
Strong computer skills
Familiarity with Google Sheets and docs.
Customer service experience

Minimum 2 years college

Strong Prior experience as a switchboard operator
Prior hospital experience

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Operates switchboard console, for serving patients and to receive and extend local and long distance calls.
Monitors 500 emergency line, Nurse Call System, Fire Alarm System and mobile radio contact with hospital security. Notifies appropriate personnel of an emergency.
Operates the overhead paging system for overhead announcements, including emergencies and assists all staff in locating personnel.
Maintains a daily log of all events with times and names. Notifies supervisor for follow-up or special attention.
Maintains patient census list, checks with admission and nursing for updates to daily printout.
Reports equipment malfunctions to appropriate repair personnel. (Telephone equipment, elevators, etc.)
Maintains and administers the parking program according to policy.
Uses sound judgment and ensures patient safety.
Follows and adheres to all organizational and departmental policies and guidelines, code of conduct, and REHAB employee handbook.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Office equipment, including telephone, computer and multifunction devices (MFDs). Google’s G Suite, report writer and database software.
