Responsibilities
- Review construction documents.
- Supervise and guide contractors, monitor job progress, and coordinate field construction activities.
- Resolve construction issues related to field conditions, interdisciplinary conflicts, maintenance concerns, and life-cycle costs.
- Act as a liaison between contractors, designers, user departments, and maintenance groups.
- Monitor budgets, client service usage, and project schedules, identifying potential shortfalls and taking preventive actions.
- Initiate and manage General Orders, ensuring timely provision to contractors.
- Inspect work in progress and notify contractors of deficiencies or concerns.
- Prepare daily reports, formal punch lists, and informal/running punch lists.
- Ensure completion of all punch list items.
- Conduct joint pre-final and final inspections with contractors and client trade groups.
- Develop estimates and manage scope changes and change orders.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Data Telecommunications, or Computer Science; or
- Associate's degree in the same fields plus two years of related experience.
Experience
- Minimum of three years supervising employees in project management work, including planning, administering, managing, coordinating, or expediting engineering projects.
Licensing
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
- Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering preferred; equivalent college education may be considered.
- Experience with data telecommunications network deployment or communications applications such as CCTV, PSLAN, PA/CIS, Electronic Access Control, VMS, or PSIM preferred.
- Experience in analytical planning or operational, technical, and/or administrative duties.
- Knowledge of engineering processes and practical field experience.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Windows, Word, and Excel.
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills, with the ability to organize project information, prepare reports, and develop construction contract-related documents.
Additional Requirements
- Complete and maintain qualification in the one-day Client Track Safety Training Course before working on or near the wayside.
- Provide safety work boots meeting required specifications at no cost to the Client.
- Maintain a valid 30-hour OSHA Certificate for the duration of the assignment.
Work Schedule
Hours: 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM.
Work Environment
- 50% technical/field and 50% administrative/design responsibilities.
- 65% field and 35% office work.
- Right-of-way work is required.
