Description

Salary:           $33.45 an hour plus $5.09 Health and Welfare

 

Required:

Qualified candidates will have the following:

  • U.S. Citizen
  • Minimum of three years of telecommunications maintenance and repair experience.
  • Experience in installations, removal, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of voice and/or non-voice communications systems, normally open/closed contact alarm systems, terminal and communications equipment including line drivers.
  • BICSI Installer 1.
  • Active or recent U.S. government Secret security clearance.
  • Valid Driver’s License

 

Job Description:

  • Telecommunications infrastructure inspections.
  • Install, remove, maintain, modify, troubleshoot, and repair voice and/or non-voice communication systems.
  • Install, activate, and repair CAT-6 network cabling.
  • Pull cable, such as copper, twisted pair, optical fiber, and other cable types, through conduit, above ceilings and between floors.
  • Terminate cable on patch panels, 110, and 66 blocks.
  • Repair, install, and maintain outside plant facilities including telephone poles, underground services, telecommunication pedestals, handholes, and manholes, fiber and copper splice cases and conduit.
  • The ability to lift and load equipment, material, and lift utility manhole/handhole lids.
  • Troubleshoot and identify malfunctioning or inoperative equipment.
  • Identify problems by using electronic testing equipment.
  • The ability to use a computer to access and close-out work order tickets. 
  • Familiarity with underground cable locating equipment and procedures.
  • Familiarity with copper cable and fiber optic splicing equipment.
  • Familiarity with traffic control (training would be given)
  • Understanding of building and cable prints/maps.

 

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to:

  • Talk and hear.
  • Stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, and climb.
  • Prolonged standing and/or sitting.
  • Frequent lifting and moving of items over 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Perform duties in all weather conditions.
  • Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Drive company vehicles to work locations.
  • Be able to work in confined space environments, i.e., enter and work in utility manholes.

Clearance:

Selected applicants will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.  Hire dates are dependent upon the issuance of an interim or final government security clearance.
