    Location: In office /East Cooper Medical Center, South Carolina 

    Telecommunication Technician – Intermediate

    Position Summary
    The Telecommunication Technician – Intermediate is responsible for installing, programming, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing telephone and telecommunications systems. The technician provides reliable technical support for telephone services and related equipment while ensuring installations and repairs are completed safely, accurately, and according to established standards.

    Key Responsibilities

        • Perform telephone repair, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
        • Diagnose and resolve telephone service issues, including wiring, connections, equipment, and programming problems.
        • Program and configure telephone systems, handsets, extensions, voicemail, and related telecommunications equipment.
        • Install new telephone lines, extensions, jacks, cabling, and telecommunications equipment.
        • Perform moves, adds, changes, and disconnects of telephone services.
        • Test telephone systems and connections to verify proper operation.
        • Identify and correct faults in telephone wiring and telecommunications infrastructure.
        • Read and interpret telecommunications wiring diagrams, equipment documentation, and installation specifications.
        • Maintain accurate records of installations, repairs, programming changes, and service calls.
        • Coordinate with users, vendors, contractors, and other technical staff when resolving telecommunications issues.
        • Follow applicable safety procedures and organizational standards.
        • Provide professional customer service and explain technical issues and solutions to end users.
        • Perform other telecommunications-related duties as assigned.
      • Education:
        • High School Diploma or GED, required.
        • 2 Year / Associate Degree, preferred. 
      • Experience:
        • Minimum two year's telecommunications experience, required.
        • 5 years, preferred. 
      • Licensure/Certification:
        • CCNA, preferred.

Specific activities may change from time to time. Involves responding to user complaints to troubleshoot telecommunication networks, for both voice and data. Diagnose problems with scripted questions.
        • Assists in the maintenance of network communications. Tests and evaluates network systems to eliminate problems and make improvements.
        • Responsible for providing Tier 1 technical support for all legacy TDM & VoIP products and perform remote monitoring and testing of Data Circuits
        • Responsible, under supervision, for moderately complex tasks typically relating to network monitoring, operations, programming, and installation.

        • Performs maintenance for local and remote locations.
        • Handles routine network tasks/activities and identifies/resolves routine network problems.
        • Monitors and responds to complex technical communication problems.
        • Maintains and demonstrates professional competency.
        • Complies with organization and department policies and procedures.
