Core work you’ll perform
- Cat5e/Cat6/Cat6A installation, termination, labeling, and testing.
- Fiber optic installation and termination, fusion splicing, and full test/validation.
- Pathway and support installation: cable tray, ladder rack, sleeves, backboards, and J‑hooks.
- Code‑compliant firestopping.
- High‑pair copper backbone installation and splicing.
- System certification using Fluke DSX‑8600 testers and OTDR equipment.
- Reading/interpreting construction drawings and specifications.
- Site surveys to plan cable routes and penetrations.
- Accurate reports, labeling, and test documentation.
- Maintaining a safe, orderly job site; professional communication at all times.
Must‑haves
- 3+ years of commercial low‑voltage installation experience.
- Experience with structured cabling and fiber optic systems.
- Blueprint/construction document literacy.
- Understanding of TIA/EIA standards and best practices.
- Experience using Fluke certification equipment.
- BICSI or OEM certifications are a plus.
- Valid driver’s license; clean MVR.
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
- Comfort lifting 50 lbs and working from ladders and lifts.
