Job Title: Telecom Design Engineer __ Division of Information Systems
Job Summary:
The Telecom Design Engineer is responsible for design engineering, planning, and execution of telecommunications and data center network projects in support of UMMC's enterprise environment. This role supports UMMC hospitals and remote clinics throughout the state and ensures network cabling and fiber infrastructure, standards, protocols, and systems are designed and implemented to meet performance, reliability, and regulatory requirements.
Education & Experience:
Education and Experience Required: Degree (Associates or Bachelors) and three (3) years work experience in communications systems, data center networking design and implementation, cabling/fiber, project management or information technology infrastructure.
Certifications, Licenses or Registration Required: Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) must obtain post-hire within twelve (12) months.

Responsibilities:
The duct layouts and schematic drawings uniquely identify all cable plant component locations and logical schematics. The layouts need to uniquely identify all components, including a description that clearly defines site uses and capabilities.
Support DIS, Facilities, Electrical contractors, Planning and Development, Project Managers at UMMC and contracted 3rd party.
Fire and Safety network closed/open/ring designs. Enterprise Intercom and Overhead paging experience.
Familiar with the installation of fiber sleeve, wipes, cable tags and tie wraps. Management of the installation of conduit, risers, cable trays or cable ladders. Ensuring installations comply with applicable codes such as ANSI/TIA/EIA 588-B Commercial Building Telecommunication Cabling Standard, the National Electrical Safety Code and other applicable local and national codes concerned with quality and safety. Training on these codes will be provided if necessary.
Work with Facilities and Fire and safety on elevator communication and testing along with fire fiber ring.
