    Page 1 of 3 4.30(d) APPROVED 6/16/2010 BROOKFIELD PUBLIC SCHOOLS JOB DESCRIPTION LEAD-TECHNOLOGY TECHNICIAN T-IV GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES The Lead-Technology Technician is responsible for the overall maintenance and upkeep of technology in their assigned location. This assignment includes management of the Local Area Network (LAN), the interface with the district Wide Area Network (WAN), Internet connections, installation of software and trouble shooting of software application problems, and the set up and repair of terminal equipment. The Lead-Technology Technician assumes other general technology functions assigned by the immediate supervisor, including the training and assistance of users in their assigned building. Additionally, the Lead-Technology Technician is responsible for the management and performance of key district-wide services such as: the district's WAN, district Internet services, district E-mail services, district anti-virus and firewall services and Channel 17, the district's educational television station. SUPERVISION RECEIVED Works under the direct supervision of the Director of Business and Technology Operations. SUPERVISION EXERCISED Generally none except as assigned by the Director of Business and Technology Operations. In the absence of the Director of Business and Technology Operations, the Lead-Technology Technician may be asked to supervise the activities of Technology Technicians. Oversees activities of student workers. JOB GOAL To ensure that the building and district-wide technology programs function at optimum performance, including the functionality of servers, workstations, peripherals, infrastructure, and other technology devices. EVALUATION Performance will be evaluated by the Director of Business and Technology Operations. Page 2 of 3 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES1 (List is not all-inclusive)

    1. Installs, maintains, manages and upgrades computers, servers, peripheral equipment (including video projection systems and interactive whiteboards) and related software.
    2. Maintains technology network(s) and troubleshoots problems related to end-user application (e.g., printers, Internet, etc.)
    3. Documents network Internet Protocol (IP) assignments and location of network workstations.
    4. Maintains the technology hardware and software inventories for the assigned location(s).
    5. Provides assistance and training in use of hardware and software for end-users of the technology program (e.g., teachers, secretaries, paraprofessional staff).
    6. Ensures that the district's WAN is functioning at maximum capacity and speeds. Troubleshoots and makes adjustments as needed. Works closely with service provider as needed.
    7. Ensures that the district's E-mail is kept up to date and is performing at optimal levels, including server support. Troubleshoots and resolves problems as required.
    8. Ensures that the district's student information system is kept up to date and is performing at optimal levels, including server support and maintenance. Troubleshoots and resolves problems as required.
    9. Ensures that the district's Internet and filtering services are functioning optimally at all times. Troubleshoots and resolves problems as required. Works closely with service provider as needed.
    10. Ensures that technology systems district-wide are protected by adequate firewall, anti-virus, and Internet filter software.
    11. Ensures that the district's educational television station, Channel 17, is functioning properly. Manages the broadcast schedule and troubleshoots /resolves problems as required.
    12. Monitors the appropriate use of the district technology system(s) and promptly reports issues or concerns to the Director of Business and Technology Operations and building Principal.
    13. Orders supplies as needed for district-wide Technology Operations
    14. Assist the Director of Business and Technology Operations with the development of the district's technology budget.
    15. Performs such other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND CAPACITIES
    16. Expertise in computer and network technologies.
    17. Ability to work independently.
    18. Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with staff and students.
    19. Ability to communicate effectively with staff, students and vendors.
    20. Contributes to an overall sense of teamwork and cooperation in support of personnel in other assignments when requested to do so.

    23. Maintains a current knowledge of emerging technologies. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
    24. High School Diploma (minimum), preferably a community college, technical school, or college graduate or equivalent level of knowledge.
    25. Demonstrated skill, experience, aptitude and interest for the work to be performed.
    26. Such alternatives to the above qualification as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT 12 months position Essential duties and responsibilities are italicized.
