Sitting first chair on complex tech deals, this practice leader will build and scale a team of 10+ attorneys while pairing elite transactional execution with cutting-edge legal automation.What You Will Be DoingFirst-Chair Deal Execution: Sit first chair on strategic partnerships, joint developments, licensing, SaaS/platform agreements, and data/AI terms-executing at deal speed rather than memo speed.IP Diligence Strategy: Own and refine IP diligence methodologies across M&A, venture financings, carve-outs, and spin-outs (chain of title, open source exposure, inbound/outbound scope, and change-of-control triggers).Practice & Team Leadership: Build, recruit, staff, and mentor a team of 10+ attorneys, establishing an elite work-product bar within a high-velocity startup environment.Executive Advisory: Serve as primary counsel to GCs, founders, boards, and deal teams, delivering definitive, actionable guidance on novel and unsettled legal questions.AI Tooling & Practice Scaling: Partner directly with software engineers to translate practice-level insights into automated tooling and AI workflows that scale the practice group.Key Requirements15+ Years Experience: Deep track record leading complex, sophisticated technology and IP transactions.Hybrid Experience Preferred: Background spanning both high-bar law firms and in-house tech legal teams (understanding where legal typically bottlenecks business deals).Full Tech Toolkit: Command of licensing, SaaS/platform contracts, data/AI terms, trade secrets, open source compliance, and IP reps, warranties, and disclosure schedules.Transaction Diligence: Extensive experience conducting buy-side and sell-side IP diligence for corporate financings and M&A.Team Management: Proven experience directly managing, staffing, and developing teams of attorneys.Bar Admission: Active J.D. and bar membership in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.Nice-to-HaveHands-on experience developing enterprise open-source legal strategy.Familiarity with patent portfolio licensing and strategic IP monetization.
