Summary

The Colville School District is now accepting applications for a Technology Assistant to support a wide range of Technology Department needs. The Technology Assistant provides responsive Tier 1 technology support to students and staff throughout the district. This position serves as a first point of contact for common hardware, software, account, printing, classroom technology, and connectivity issues; prepares and maintains devices; documents service work; and supports accurate technology inventory. The successful candidate will be approachable, dependable, organized, and able to explain technical information in plain language. This is a 260-day position that includes medical, dental, and vision insurance, retirement, and other benefits consistent with full-time district staff. Continued employment is subject to satisfactory performance evaluations.

Essential Duties

  • Respond to support requests received by phone, email, or the district help desk system; document troubleshooting steps and resolutions accurately.
  • Troubleshoot Windows and ChromeOS devices, applications, user accounts, printers, classroom displays, audiovisual equipment, and basic network connectivity.
  • Install, configure, deploy, update, repair, replace, and securely retire computers, mobile devices, printers, peripherals, and related equipment.
  • Maintain accurate asset records, including device assignment, location, warranty, repair, and disposal information.
  • Provide patient, user friendly assistance and brief training to students and staff on district-supported technology.
  • Support technology setup for classrooms, offices, testing, events, labs, and device carts.
  • Perform delegated user account and group management tasks while protecting confidential information.
  • Assist technology staff with cabling, network equipment, system maintenance, device deployments, summer projects, and vendor support.
  • Travel between district buildings and prioritize requests based on urgency and instructional impact.
  • Attend required training sessions, meetings, and workshops.
  • Foster open communication and partnerships among teachers, students, and district support staff.
  • Demonstrate strong customer service orientation.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.

  • Must be able to work with students whose native language is not English and with students at varying levels of English language proficiency in a classroom setting.
  • The employee will drive their personal vehicle between district facilities daily.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Relevant education, technical training, certification, or hands-on experience supporting computers and users.
  • Working knowledge of computer hardware, common operating systems and applications, basic networking, and troubleshooting methods.
  • Strong customer service, communication, organization, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to learn unfamiliar systems, follow technical procedures, work independently, and collaborate as part of a team.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and use sound judgment when working with student, staff, and district information.
  • Flexibility is a required with the ability to multitask and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Ability to develop, maintain, and promote strong internal and external relationships.
  • Must have a favorable state and national fingerprint background check.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Strong oral and written communications skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate degree, technical school training, industry certification, or equivalent experience in information technology.
  • Technology support experience in a K-12 school, public agency, a help desk, or a similarly service-focused environment.
  • Experience with Microsoft 365, Google Workspace for Education, Microsoft Intune, Active Directory or Entra ID, ChromeOS administration, device deployment, or inventory/help desk systems.
  • Experience repairing computers, supporting printers and classroom audiovisual equipment, or installing low-voltage network cabling.
