ABOUT THE POSITION:
The City of Santa Rosa is seeking a Technology Application Specialist with software system administration expertise and problem-solving skills to implement and support enterprise solutions serving our community. The current opening is in the Information Technology department under direction of the IT Supervisor of Enterprise Applications working with ERP systems that may include Finance, HR, Payroll, Timekeeping, Permitting, Inspections, and/or Code Enforcement modules. The list of eligible candidates resulting from this recruitment will be used to fill the current opening, and may be used to fill future Technology Application Specialist positions.
The primary purpose of this job classification is to handle software and enterprise-level application tasks of moderate to complex difficulty, supporting various operations across multiple departments in the City. This role is based in the Application Services division in the Information Technology department and assists with the daily management of essential software applications. Responsibilities include software configuration, workflow modifications, permissions administration, scripting, user support, process improvements, report development, and other related duties as needed. This position works closely with departmental business leads, subject matter experts, end-users, programming staff, and vendors to provide process improvements and ongoing support for the enterprise systems. This position will be the technical "go-to" person for the supported applications.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
The ideal candidate has experience supporting enterprise level software applications and Microsoft SQL databases, including writing complex T-SQL queries, developing stored procedures, using Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio, developing reports using Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), and troubleshooting software problems. In addition, the ideal candidate has excellent interpersonal skills to work extensively with both technical and non-technical staff at all levels City-wide. The candidate must be able to logically create detailed documents and emails, as well as track, coordinate and facilitate communication on multiple projects simultaneously. Experience - Sufficient years of increasingly responsible experience providing administrative and technical support to users of a specialized computer application to demonstrate possession of the knowledge and abilities listed above, and Education - Equivalent to completion of high school supplemented by college or university coursework in computer science, information technology, business administration, or a related field
