Position Title: Technician Sterile Processing
Location: Portland, OR 97216
Duration: 13 weeks (Possible extension)
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 3:00pm to 11:30pm.
Pay rate: $36.00 - $40.00 /hr..
Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:- Decontaminate, inspect, clean, assemble, sterilize, and distribute surgical instruments and medical equipment.
- Compile instrument sets, count instruments, and maintain accurate processing records.
- Operate steam sterilizers and other sterilization equipment using appropriate exposure and drying parameters.
- Prepare instruments for immediate-use sterilization when required.
- Perform biological and diagnostic testing on sterilization equipment and maintain related logs.
- Evaluate instruments for cleanliness, function, and safety prior to redistribution.
- Assist with operating room turnover, terminal cleaning activities, and sterile supply support as needed.
- Support case cart preparation and instrument selection for upcoming procedures.
- Process instruments for ancillary departments including Emergency Room, Respiratory Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Radiology.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant sterile processing environment.
- Track and document loaner instruments and sterilization activities in accordance with facility policy.
- Follow infection prevention, patient safety, and regulatory standards at all times.
- Perform additional sterile processing duties as assigned under the direction of perioperative leadership.
To be considered for this position, you should have: [Skills, Education, or Experience]- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Associate's or Technical Degree preferred.
- Recent hospital or acute-care sterile processing experience preferred.
- Sterile Processing Technician certification (CRCST/CSPDT or equivalent) preferred.
- Experience with decontamination, tray assembly, sterilization, biological monitoring, and OR support required.
- Strong knowledge of infection control, sterilization standards, and instrument reprocessing workflows.
- Ability to maintain accurate documentation and quality assurance records.
- EPIC experience required.
- Strong communication, organizational, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced perioperative environment.
- Flexibility to work the facility's variable evening schedule as required.
