Job Description Technician role, Orthotics and Prosthetics April 9, 2025 An Orthotics and Prosthetics (O&P) Technician is responsible for fabricating and maintaining orthotic and prosthetic devices for patients. The O&P Technician provides clinical and technical support for all incoming O&P services and needs. This person is responsible for the technical development and knowledge of fabricating orthotic and prosthetic quality devices. Responsible for properly fabricating with in-depth knowledge, expertise, and ability to provide quality fabrication of orthotic and prosthetic devices. Must work with the practitioner and office team to coordinate and execute on-time deliveries. Responsibilities - Fabricate orthotic and prosthetic devices based on patient needs and specifications submitted by practitioners.
- Keep the lab clean, organized, and safe. Keep lab stocked with parts and tools.
- Knowledge and technical skills are needed to fabricate and repair prostheses (artificial limbs) and orthoses (orthopedic braces) according to patient measurements and casts and comply with practitioners' work orders.
- Mechanical ability and hand-eye coordination to use laboratory tools safely and effectively.
- Effective organizational, time management, and planning skills.
- Good interpersonal and verbal skills for communicating with others.

Requirements - High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience working with orthotic and prosthetic devices in a lab is preferred.
Other functions: - Compassionately communicate and document in OPIE.
- Regularly analyzes and completes task on time.
- Participates in process improvement efforts aimed at improving the patient and family experience, financial revenue, and expense targets.
- Within scope of the job, it requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. You must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action.
- Manage compliance according to ABC accreditation, OSHA, federal and state law.
- Perform fabrication and repair of orthotic and/or prosthetic devices, according to Company quality and quantity standards.
- Perform ordering and receiving and other inventory tasks as assigned.
- Maintain a safe, clean and orderly work environment.
