Position Summary:
Assist technical staff in the Analytical laboratory by planning and executing routine and non-routine tasks and experiments that have the most impact on product development or in defining the causes and solutions of technology challenges within the department. Position is non-supervisory but does assist and train others through coordination and collaboration during projects.
Responsibilities:
Accountabilities
Executing Tests and Planning Experiments
- Performs and executes routine and non-routine analytical testing using both basic and advanced laboratory techniques.
- Practices proper safety procedures. Recognizes and reports unsafe acts or conditions.
- Coordinates work with coworkers and interfaces with other R&D product groups, equipment, and service groups to acquire the information and services necessary to execute assigned experiments and tasks.
- Builds and maintains experiments and testing work schedules to meet business needs.
- Provides insight and feedback to engineers on testing strategy and potential test issues.
- Uses appropriate materials and equipment and understands their principles of use or operation. Receives training in order to independently operate and maintain basic equipment and instruments in assigned area.
Data Capture and Reporting
- Collects, records, and transcribes routine and non-routine data.
- Performs routine and non-routine calculations.
- Creates tables, charts, and graphs; summarizes data and analyzes data for exceptions.
- Generates data reports that include conclusions.
Department & Individual Improvements
- Participates in department continuous improvement activities. Serves as an ad-hoc team member as required.
- Understands basic principles of products and/or devices in assigned area.
- Trains and instructs others to perform routine experiments and routine and non-routine tasks. Creates training documentation.
- Provides leadership for others within project work.
- May also perform additional duties as assigned.
What we are looking for:
Required Skills and Experience
- One year of hands-on pertinent college course work in chemistry, or equivalent experience/education.
- Two plus years of demonstrated related experience in a technical laboratory or similar environment.
- Good fundamental understanding of higher-level mathematics, mechanics, general science, and computer applications.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft office applications.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Preference for B.S. or B.A. in chemistry (or similar degree type) with full understanding and practical working knowledge of organic and/or inorganic chemistry.
- Analytical instrumentation experience.
Working Relationships
- Interfaces with supervisor for direction and guidance.
- Works with and provides some guidance to coworkers as necessary.
- Interfaces with other EHI departments and locations to acquire necessary information.
Work Environment
- Will work in the Analytical Laboratory in a Research and Development technical setting. Occasional travel may be required, depending on role.
- Ability to perform repetitive manual tasks requiring the use of hands, standing for extended periods of time, and lifting up to 35 lbs.
- Exposure to health risks or conditions may require the use of Personal Protective Equipment, including the potential use of a respirator.
- This position reports Monday-Friday, day shift. Occasionally, schedule may vary from typical business hours.

Total Rewards Package:
The salary range for this position is USD $48,000.00/Yr. - USD $58,000.00/Yr.
Actual base salary offered to a candidate may vary based upon factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location.
