The following duties are typical for this position. Performs a variety of groundskeeping and landscaping duties: mows grass; plants flowers and shrubs; weed eats around signs and fence lines; edges curb lines; clears leaves, tree limbs and other debris from park areas; spreads and hauls ground cover, dirt, or mulch; prunes trees and shrubs; weeds flower beds; aerates and spreads grass seed; services and maintains irrigation systems; grooms, drags, lines, paints, and rakes ball fields; and removes snow and ice, etc. Performs general custodial duties at various parks and facilities: cleans parks, ball fields, restrooms, and other areas; hoses decks; gathers and empties trash; and sets up and tears down staging, chairs, tables, bleachers, etc. for events. Performs general maintenance tasks necessary to keep machinery, equipment, and tools in operable condition, which may include inspecting equipment, checking fluid levels, replacing fluids, greasing equipment, washing/cleaning equipment, and cleaning shop and work areas: monitors equipment operations to maintain efficiency and safety; and reports faulty equipment. Communicates with supervisor, City employees, the public, and other individuals as needed to coordinate work activities, review status of work, exchange information, or resolve problems. Operates or uses a City vehicle, and various equipment, power tools, hand tools, and supplies to complete work assignments, such as a lawn mower, string trimmer, blower, edger, tractor, and other tools and equipment.
