Description
Help keep Lee County's Solid Waste operations running safely, reliably, and efficiently. As a Technician II, Mechanic with Lee County Solid Waste, you will play an important role in maintaining and repairing the vehicles and heavy equipment that support daily County services.
This position is great for someone who enjoys hands-on work, problem-solving, and working with a skilled team to keep our fleet in good operating condition. Salary is based on your experience, skills, and qualifications.
Duties and Responsibilities
What You Will Do
Perform diagnostics, preventive maintenance, and repairs on many types of Solid Waste vehicles and heavy equipment.
Repair and rebuild gasoline and diesel engines, transmissions, differentials, hydraulic systems, and major drivetrain parts.
Diagnose and repair electrical, electronic, and multiplexing system issues.
Complete brake inspections and repairs following Federal DOT rules.
Diagnose and repair hydraulic and electronic hydraulic systems.
Respond to road calls and perform roadside repairs and tire changes.
Test vehicles and equipment to identify problems and check repairs.
Perform welding, body repairs, and basic metal and aluminum fabrication.
Assign tasks to mechanics, track work progress, and approve completed jobs.
Create accurate work orders using paper and electronic systems.
Keep work areas clean and safe, including pressure washing equipment for inspections.
Follow safety rules, SOPs, and complete work within industry-standard repair times.
Work on a wide variety of equipment, including cars, pickup trucks, dump trucks, roll-off trucks, tractors, forklifts, excavators, wheel loaders, sweepers, semi-tractors, and trailers.
