Role Overview

 

• The Electrical Service Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and upgrading residential and commercial electrical systems. This role includes handling same-day service calls, performing safety and code corrections, and recommending solutions that ensure customers’ systems are safe, reliable, and efficient.

 

 

 

What You Bring

 

• Minimum of  3+ years experience in residential or light commercial electrical service (panel work, circuits, lighting, code corrections). - Licensing: State [Journeyman/Master] Electrician license (or ability to obtain); valid driver’s license with acceptable MVR. - Technical Skills: Strong diagnostics, load calculations, bonding/grounding, aluminum/copper terminations, basic controls/low-voltage, and use of test instruments. - Customer & Sales Skills: Professional communication, option-building, and ability to explain code/safety findings in plain language. - Tools & Tech: Proficient with mobile work order/CRM apps; comfortable using tablets for estimates and documentation. - Bonus Points: OSHA-10/30, NFPA 70E, EVSE certifications, generator experience, bilingual skills. Physical & Work Conditions - Lift/carry up to 50 lbs; frequent standing, bending, kneeling; attic/crawl/roof work; indoor/outdoor environments and varied temperatures. - Participate in on-call rotation, occasional evenings/weekends/OT during peak demand.

 

 

 

Key Responsibilities

 

• Troubleshooting & Repair: Diagnose issues on 120/240/277/480V systems; repair circuits, breakers, panels, outlets, switches, GFCI/AFCI devices, and lighting. - Upgrades & Installs: Perform panel swaps, service upgrades, dedicated circuits, EV charger installs, generator interlocks/ATS (non-warranty unless applicable), surge protection, and lighting controls. - Safety & Code: Work to NEC/NFPA 70E standards; follow LOTO, PPE, ladder/roof safety, and company SOPs; complete permits/inspections as required. - Customer Experience: Educate customers, present repair/upgrade options, obtain approvals, collect signatures/payments, and close tickets with clear notes and photos. - Documentation: Use field service app to capture diagnostics, materials, and time; build estimates and change orders in real time. - Inventory & Vehicle: Maintain truck stock, tools (multimeter, clamp meter, megger), and cleanliness; process returns/cores accurately. - Teamwork: Coordinate with dispatch for efficient routing; support apprentices; participate in training and ride-alongs.

• Driving: Must have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
