Position Overview
The Client Support Technician will provide on-site and remote technical support to end users within the Mississippi Department of Archives & History (MDAH). This position will be responsible for troubleshooting and resolving hardware, software, operating system, network, and end-user issues.
The ideal candidate will have strong customer service skills, hands-on desktop support experience, and a solid understanding of Microsoft Windows environments, Microsoft Office 365, Active Directory/Azure Active Directory, and basic networking.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide on-site and remote technical support to end users through phone, chat, ticketing systems, and in-person assistance.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain desktop computers, laptops, printers, monitors, and mobile devices.
- Install, configure, update, and maintain Microsoft Windows 10/11 operating systems.
- Install and support Microsoft Office 365 and other business applications.
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, connectivity, printing, and peripheral-related issues.
- Set up and configure new workstations, laptops, mobile devices, and related equipment.
- Support employee onboarding and offboarding activities, including user account creation, access, and permissions.
- Create, update, track, and resolve incidents and service requests using IT ticketing systems.
- Maintain accurate inventory records for hardware, software licenses, IT equipment, and supplies.
- Troubleshoot basic network connectivity issues involving DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, and wireless connectivity.
- Support endpoint security tools and follow organizational security procedures.
- Escalate complex, recurring, or network-wide issues to senior system or network administrators.
- Document troubleshooting steps, resolutions, and technical procedures.
- Provide excellent customer service and communicate technical information clearly to non-technical users.
- Perform other related IT support duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma/GED, vocational training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 1 4 years of relevant IT support, desktop support, or service desk experience.
- Hands-on experience supporting Microsoft Windows 10/11.
- Experience troubleshooting desktops, laptops, printers, monitors, and other IT hardware.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365.
- Basic understanding of networking concepts including DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, and wireless connectivity.
- Familiarity with endpoint security tools.
- Experience using IT ticketing/service desk systems.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work effectively with users of varying technical skill levels.
- Ability to work 100% onsite in Jackson, Mississippi.
Preferred Qualifications
- CompTIA A+ certification.
- CompTIA Network+ certification.
- Microsoft certifications or credentials.
- Experience with Azure Active Directory/Active Directory.
- Experience with PowerShell.
- Experience supporting mobile and wireless devices.
- Experience in a government or enterprise IT environment.

Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a hands-on Desktop Support / IT Support / Service Desk Technician with strong troubleshooting abilities and excellent customer service skills. The candidate should be comfortable working directly with end users, diagnosing hardware and software issues, setting up workstations, managing user accounts, and supporting Windows-based environments.
