  • Inspect incoming damaged soft goods (garments, bedding, rugs, drapery) to identify fabric types, contamination levels (smoke, soot, water, mold), and required restoration processes.

  • Operate commercial-grade laundry equipment, specialized Esporta wash systems, ozone chambers, and ultrasonic cleaners to decontaminate and restore items to pre-loss condition.

  • Apply proper stain removal, deodorization, and fabric care techniques based on material composition.

2. Inventory Management & Digital Tracking

  • Utilize tablets and company inventory software (e.g., ContentsTrack/Barcoding) to log, inventory, tag, and track customer items.

  • Maintain strict chain-of-custody protocols to ensure clients' belongings are sorted, tracked, and stored safely without mix-ups.

3. On-Site Pack-Outs & Field Support

  • Assist field teams at client sites with carefully removing (pack-out) affected textiles and returning (move-back) clean, restored soft goods.

  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.

Expanded Roles & Responsibilities Breakdown

Core Focus Areas for this Role:

  • Fabric Assessment & Processing: Unlike standard laundry work, this role requires assessing soot/smoke damage, water damage, or odor saturation to select specific wash cycles and chemical treatments.

  • Digital Chain-of-Custody: SERVPRO relies heavily on inventory systems (barcodes and tablets). Technicians photograph, tag, and list items so every piece of clothing is accounted for from intake to delivery.

  • Equipping & Maintenance: Technicians learn how to operate specialized restoration washing machines (such as Esporta wash systems) and ozone/deodorization chambers designed to strip smoke odor out of delicate fabrics.

  • Emotional Empathy & Care: Handling a customer's personal items after a home fire or flood requires a high degree of care, precision, and respectful handling.
