Job Summary
The Technical Support Specialist IIs responsibilities include, but are not limited to, performing moderately complex systems support work as a part of the technical help desk team. This position provides user support for the colleges computer software and hardware operation and connectivity, including classroom and conference room multimedia equipment. This position may train others and works under general supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgement. This position reports directly to the Manager of Client Computing. This is a non-exempt position.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Provide customer service and answer user inquiries regarding computer software, hardware operation, and the use and interface of systems and software applications.
- Provide assistance in the design, development, and maintenance of various systems and applications.
- Install, maintain, move, and assists in testing and upgrading new and existing hardware or software.
- Maintain records of daily data communication transactions, problems, remedial actions taken, and installation activities.
- Maintains necessary security controls over software and hardware utilizing Active Directory and data center services.
- Sets up equipment for employee use and performs or ensure proper installation of cables, operating systems, or appropriate software.
- Setup and Maintain Windows Deployment System Images.
- Configure, Install, and Maintain Adobe Licensing.
- Develop and update personal computer and mainframe application programs.
- Performs related work as assigned.
Minimum/Preferred Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate degree with major coursework in a related area (when relevant, experience level can replace education)
- One to two years of experience
- Knowledge of practices, principles, and techniques of computer operation, information systems, computer software and hardware, information security policies and procedures, local and wide area networks, and a general knowledge of database administration
- Ability to communicate respectfully and effectively with students, faculty and staff
- Ability to supervise others and plan, schedule, and manage projects for self and others
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduation from a two or four year accredited institution with an information technology related degree.
- Two or more years of information technology support experience.
- Relevant information technology certifications (e.g., A+, MCSA).

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Perform manual labor associated with repair and servicing of computing and business equipment which may include:
- Frequently lift, push, pull, and/or carry up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift, push, pull, and/or carry up to 50 pounds.
- Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, reach, and use hands to manipulate, handle, or feel.
- Occasionally required to climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
