Technical Support Specialist I

Work Hours: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM, Hours may vary

Starting Rate: $48,025.27- $65,583.58 Hourly

Eligibility Requirements: Open to All Applicants

Union: Non-Union Position

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support for personal computer hardware and software in stand-alone and network environments, primarily supporting the office of Public Utilities Commercial Office.
  • Provide Help Desk functions dependent on Tier I or Tier II support requirements.
  • Install PC hardware and software.
  • Train PC users in the use of various software programs and hardware. Provide hardware maintenance.

Required Qualifications:

Knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of two years of college with courses in computer science and one year experience with PC hardware and computer operating software, or any equivalent combination of related training and experience. A valid Class D driver's license is also required. Must pass the required background investigation and sign the departmental confidentiality statement.

Preference for employment in all positions with the city shall be given to applicants who are full-time city residents.

To be eligible to apply, current City employees must have completed their probationary period and attained certified status in their current position.
