Job Summary We are seeking a Technical Support Specialist II (TSS II) to analyze, evaluate, and support location-specific information system needs within our manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for aligning business requirements with existing systems, recommending enhancements, and collaborating with corporate MIS and materials teams to deliver effective technical solutions.
The TSS II will play a key role in system improvements, development initiatives, and implementation efforts while serving as a liaison between plant operations and corporate IT teams. Key Responsibilities
Evaluate and support location-specific information system needs using established procedures
Collaborate with plant leadership, managers, and supervisors to identify system-related challenges and solutions
Create and submit detailed Task Requests for system enhancements
Partner with corporate MIS and materials teams to determine development ownership (local vs. corporate)
Lead or support development efforts for system enhancements when assigned at the local level
Coordinate implementation of system improvements, both locally developed and corporate-driven
Act as the primary liaison between plant locations and corporate MIS teams
Develop custom queries and reports to support operational needs
Participate in tactical planning to improve system performance and operational efficiency
Ensure consistency and compliance with MIS development standards
Required Skills & Competencies
Strong understanding of database systems and query tools
Knowledge of system processes in a manufacturing environment
Ability to gather user requirements and translate them into technical solutions
Experience with database design and process flow documentation
Ability to manage development timelines and communicate project status
Proficiency with development tools such as:
Visual Basic
SQL Server
Crystal Reports
Microsoft Access, Excel, and Word
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills
Ability to work both independently and within a team
Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience)
13 years of experience in system development or technical support roles
At least 1 year of experience in a Technical Support Specialist (TSS) role (preferred)
Completion of AWC TSS Development Training Program (or ability to obtain)
Demonstrated experience working on development or system enhancement projects
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
Primarily office-based with occasional work on the manufacturing floor
Moderate noise levels in plant environments
Occasional weekend or after-hours work may be required
Ability to sit, stand, walk, and use hands for computer work
