What the Role Involves
The Technical Specialist is responsible for leading and supporting technical innovation projects, conducting laboratory testing and product evaluations, and providing technical expertise to support product development, customer requirements, and manufacturing operations. This role serves as a key member of the technical team by executing laboratory studies, analyzing data, generating technical documentation, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive innovation and product development.
Typical responsibilities include: - Lead and support technical innovation and product development from concept through commercialization.
- Plan, conduct, and document laboratory testing, evaluations, trials, and experiments to support new product development and process optimization.
- Design and execute test methods to evaluate material performance, product characteristics, process capabilities, and customer-specific requirements.
- Analyze experimental data using statistical and scientific principles and provide technical recommendations based on findings.
- Prepare technical reports, presentations, and project summaries to communicate results, conclusions, and recommendations to management and project teams.
- Interpret engineering drawings, product specifications, formulas, and customer requirements to establish testing protocols and project objectives.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, sales, purchasing, and customer service teams to resolve technical issues and support business objectives.
- Develop and maintain laboratory procedures, test methods, technical databases, and project documentation.
- Coordinate and monitor laboratory trials, pilot runs, and production-scale validation activities.
- Investigate product, process, and material-related issues and perform root cause analysis to identify corrective actions and improvement opportunities.
- Create and distribute hand samples, prototype materials, and test samples for customers, suppliers, and internal evaluations.
- Ensure laboratory equipment is calibrated, maintained, and operating effectively.
- Assist production and operations teams with technical troubleshooting and process support as needed.
