Job Description

Summary:

Casco Products Corporation, in Novi, MI seeks a Technical Specialist - Power Electronics to innovate new products and bring new technologies into product architectures by leading the conception and advanced development of power electronic products including topology for power conversion using tools such as Matlab/Simulink, schematic diagrams using aided design tools such as Altium or similar, power components such as Loads, and define PCB layout strategy for power electronics using PCB layout design tools such as Altium.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Innovate new products and bring new technologies into product architectures by leading the conception and advanced development of power electronic products including topology for power conversion using tools such as Matlab/Simulink, schematic diagrams using aided design tools such as Altium or similar, power components such as Loads, and define PCB layout strategy for power electronics using PCB layout design tools such as Altium. Perform validation and performance characterization of prototype samples using laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, electronic loads and signal generators. Work with quick turn suppliers to execute the bring-up, debug and characterization of prototypes using oscilloscopes and simulation tools for circuits such as OrCAD Pspice or performing confirmation of Power Integrity simulations with Ansys Simplorer, ADS, Altair or similar. Work with systems, software and mechanical teams to deliver best-in-class performance and write technical test plans and test specifications. Collaborate with mechanical, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to bring the new product into mass production when required by customers. Develop and industrialize the use of new technologies and solutions on power electronics and advance manufacturing. Provide technical leadership, coaching and mentoring to engineering team members to support their development. Develop product hardware/circuit designs to meet customer specifications and requirements and perform Worst Case Circuit Analysis that are required by our customers or for internal quality assurance. Support hardware engineering leads in their design from concept prototype to mass production releases and end of life. Attend design review meetings and provide technical feedback to the team. Prepare technical and cost proposals and make technical presentations of new designs for customers. Telecommuting permitted twice weekly.

Qualifications/Experience:

MINIMUM EDUCATION:xa0 Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or related field.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: 120 months' progressively responsible experience in each of the following: power circuit analysis, such as worst-case circuit analysis, failure method effectiveness and criticality, and reliability; the use of electronic design (EDA) tools such as Altium or similar; PCB layout creation or review for power circuits; SPICE-based circuit simulation tools for electronic circuits such as ORCAD PSpice; industry experience designing successful power electronics products from concept through schematic, PCB layout, manufacturing, test and deployment; design of power electronic system architectures; electronic circuit design including simulation and worst-case circuit analysis (WCCA); including 60 months' experience in each of the following: development of functional requirements for 800V DC High Voltage Architecture; hands on work with lab instruments such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, electronic loads and signal generators; writing technical test plans and test specifications; and the use of power integrity simulation tools such as Ansys Simplorer, ADS or Altair, and also including 36 months' experience in solving and debugging EMC problems for the automotive industry.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENT: Up to 10% domestic and international travel to client and customer locations.
