    Position Type: Contract
    Experience Required: 10+ Years
Preferred Background: Nuclear Power Generation / Nuclear Plant Modifications
Work Environment: Combination of Home, Office, and Nuclear Plant / Field

    Position Overview

Business Control Systems (BCS) is seeking an experienced Technical Specialist III – Nuclear to provide technical field support, engineering coordination, and oversight of plant modification projects within a nuclear power generation environment.

This position is responsible for ensuring engineering modifications are properly planned, documented, and implemented safely, efficiently, and in accordance with approved designs, work orders, quality standards, and established nuclear procedures.

The ideal candidate will bring 10+ years of relevant experience, preferably within a nuclear power plant environment, with a strong understanding of engineering change processes, plant systems, work order planning, technical documentation, and field implementation.

This is a hands-on technical support position requiring regular plant walkdowns and close collaboration with engineers, planners, quality control personnel, implementation managers, and craft teams.

During project implementation, approximately 80–90% of the work may be performed in the field, depending on project complexity, risk, and scheduling requirements.

    Key Responsibilities

    Nuclear Engineering & Field Implementation

    • Perform detailed field walkdowns of Systems, Structures, and Components (SSCs) being modified, working alongside Responsible Engineers (REs), Designers, Implementation Managers (IMs), and Planners.

    • Review engineering drawings, work orders, technical notes, technical tasks, and implementation instructions to identify potential challenges before field execution.

    • Provide technical oversight during modification implementation to ensure work is completed according to approved engineering designs, procedures, and quality requirements.

    • Participate in pre-job briefings with craft personnel to clarify drawings, work instructions, and technical expectations.

    • Identify and resolve field execution issues, design discrepancies, and work order deficiencies.

    • Coordinate Engineering Change (EC) revisions when modifications cannot be implemented as originally designed.

    • Support Advanced Work Authorization (AWA) processes in accordance with applicable procedures, including AD-EG-ALL-1132/1133.

    • Collaborate with Planners and Implementation Managers when work orders require revisions.

    • Lead validation of Technical Tasks (TTs), Technical Notes (TNs), and OLE work instructions associated with engineering changes.

    Quality Control & Compliance

    • Work closely with Quality Control (QC) personnel to identify inspection requirements for each implementation task.

    • Ensure work orders contain appropriate QC inspection codes and applicable technical procedures.

    • Verify installation procedures, maintenance procedures, performance tests, technical notes, and other required instructions are properly documented.

    • Assist in developing technical notes and OLE work instructions as needed.

    • Maintain compliance with applicable nuclear safety, engineering, and quality standards.

    Engineering Scheduling & Project Coordination

    • Develop lifecycle schedule templates and initial Engineering Change package schedules.

    • Gather schedule inputs from Responsible Engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders.

    • Create and maintain scheduling and tracking files using Primavera P6 and Microsoft Access.

    • Track work order status, engineering milestones, station schedules, and project commitments.

    • Maintain engineering status reports and provide regular schedule updates.

    • Serve as a primary point of contact for monthly engineering schedule commitments.

    • Develop engineering outage work schedules that minimize operational disruptions and unnecessary overtime.

    • Prepare daily progress reports and project documentation.

    Vendor Coordination & Document Control

    • Coordinate engineering and documentation deliverables between internal project teams and contracted vendors.

    • Track vendor submissions and ensure documents are properly processed through document control.

    • Assist with contract development and engineering coordination activities.

    • Maintain accurate project records and support compliance with applicable station procedures.

    • Utilize relevant systems, including CAS, MMP, WISM, and other engineering or project tracking applications.

    Required Qualifications

    • 10+ years of relevant technical experience supporting engineering, plant modifications, project implementation, or related industrial operations.

    • Experience conducting field walkdowns and supporting technical implementation activities.

    • Strong understanding of engineering drawings, technical documentation, work orders, and project procedures.

    • Experience identifying and resolving field implementation challenges.

    • Knowledge of engineering change management, work planning, and quality control requirements.

    • Ability to coordinate effectively with engineers, designers, planners, contractors, and craft personnel.

    • Strong organizational, analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.

    • Ability to work in plant and field environments while following applicable safety procedures.

    • Comfortable working at heights and climbing ladders or scaffolding when required.

    Preferred Qualifications & Technical Experience

    • Previous nuclear power plant experience is strongly preferred.

    • Experience supporting nuclear plant engineering modifications and Systems, Structures, and Components (SSCs).

    • Familiarity with nuclear Engineering Change (EC) and Advanced Work Authorization (AWA) processes.

    • Experience with Primavera P6, Microsoft Access, and engineering schedule management.

    • Familiarity with CAS, MMP, WISM, and applicable station procedures.

    • Experience supporting nuclear outage planning, engineering documentation, and vendor deliverables.

    • Understanding of nuclear quality control inspection requirements and work order planning.

    Work Environment & Physical Requirements

This position involves a combination of home-based work, office responsibilities, and hands-on field activities within a nuclear power plant.

Candidates should be comfortable working in an active industrial environment and following established safety procedures.

    Field & Safety Requirements:

    • Field Walkdowns: Required to inspect plant equipment, piping, valves, and Systems, Structures, and Components.

    • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Required, including hard hat, gloves, composite-toe or steel-toe safety footwear, and fall-protection harness when applicable.

    • Working at Heights: May be required to climb ladders exceeding 6 feet or access scaffolding to inspect equipment and plant components.

    • Potential Hazards: Exposure to typical industrial conditions, including trip hazards during walkdowns and fall hazards when working at heights.

    • Lifting: No routine lifting requirements.

    • Machinery Operation: Not required.

    • Driving: Not required as part of assigned duties.

All field activities must be performed in accordance with applicable plant safety requirements and procedures.

    What We're Looking For

We're looking for a seasoned technical professional who understands the importance of safety, quality, accuracy, and coordination when implementing engineering modifications in a nuclear plant.

The successful candidate should be comfortable reviewing technical documentation, walking down plant systems, identifying potential issues, and working directly with engineering and field personnel to keep modifications moving forward.

Previous nuclear experience will be especially valuable, as this position requires the ability to navigate complex plant environments and support engineering activities with minimal disruption to operations.
