    TECHNICAL SOLUTIONS ANALYST - STEM K-12 L.E. Scarr Resource Center

    POSITION DESCRIPTION: Professional- Technical Level H

    SUMMARY: Serves as the district expert for the technology area(s) assigned and provides second level support to resolve issues that may arise. Responds to, diagnoses, and resolves tier two technology support issues. Investigates, troubleshoots and identifies root cause of issue, manages maintenance and replacement or expansion of assigned technology. May drive district vehicle or personal vehicle (with mileage reimbursement) to provide onsite support at various district locations. Contacts vendors and engages district staff for timely support. Maintains records on issues, creates check lists, documents solutions, and publishes appropriate information to helpdesk knowledge base and/or operations change logs to assist tier one support staff with problem resolution or escalation. Occasionally joins department field teams to assist with project tasks. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    • Diagnose and resolve escalated issues using various methods including research, vendor contact, etc.
    • Answer voice and communication from peers and customers and provide answers and solutions to district employees, students, and parents.
    • Perform detailed record keeping and clerical tasks to maintain support tickets and issue documentation.
    • Document, update, and review electronic records and procedure documents for other tech support staff.
    • Maintain knowledge of industry trends in area of assignment and update skills accordingly.
    • May help deploy technology to schools or warehouse.
    • Follow LWSD policies, procedures, and protocols.
    • Tier 2 and 3 Escalations for supporting career and technical hardware and applications.
    • Facilitates moves, adds and changes to Career and Technical installs of labs, carts, or other related CTE deployment efforts. Ensures quality of the install and that the environment is safe and accessible for students.
    • Engages with classroom teachers on excellent design and supportability for the technology in K-5 STEM spaces, CTE Spaces, and other custom technical spaces that may exist throughout schools.
    • Supporting the buildout of testing conditions for STEM ecosystems end-to-end. Ensuring the success of planned learning paths envisioned by STEM K12 Curriculum needs and learning paths.
    • Supports quality assurance for releases of Microsoft Configuration Manager software and imaging, reports testing outcomes to the engineer supporting that system.
    • For complex integrations, works with manager to draft documentation enabling successful rollouts.
    • Other duties as assigned. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
    • Prior work history in which you were required to quickly learn complex software tools.
    • Experience with supporting layered technology dependencies (tech tools that interact with multiple other tools to create an ecosystem supporting a single end user function).

    • Experience with finding root cause from limited information. Able to work with customers, peers, vendors, and online information to isolate what works, what doesn't, and what that might imply about the causes of symptoms.
    • Knowledge of IT topics within a Microsoft environment.
    • Experience with STEM related technology platforms and making them work.
    • Work experience where you directly interacted with customers or end users.
    • Capable with key Office Products used for team communication: Excel, Word, OneNote, and Outlook
    • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
    • Ability to work as an effective member of a project team lead by others
    • Excellent troubleshooting ability and methodology.
    • Ability to evaluate performance of hardware and software related to areas of responsibility including quality assurance with defined test methodologies.
    • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, and community with a diverse population.
    • Ability to expand knowledge of technology and information systems.
    • Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
    • Ability to develop and follow prescribed guidelines for technology use and operation.
    • Ability to work both independently and in groups.
    • Ability to speak and write fluent English.

    DESIRABLE CRITERIA:

    • A track record of being a lifelong learner (recent IT certifications, relevant degrees, or even less related certifications that show us you love to learn new things).
    • Work history involving STEM related areas that tend to need more complex technology systems , a few examples (but not all examples): Coding, Robotics, 3D Printing or CNC, Engineering, Web Development, Game Development, etc.
    • Any sort of coding, scripting, quality assurance, or UI design background that will give you insights into how technologies and user experiences work effectively.
    • Demonstratable experience with troubleshooting, able to articulate how you think through symptoms to find root cause of a behavior.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    • High school diploma or equivalent required.
    • Experience with district standard software including Microsoft Office 365 applications, Skype for Business, and Active Directory.
    • Experience in a technical support environment.
    • Must possess valid Washington State driver's license.
    • Must pass criminal background check.

    WORKING ENVIRONMENT: This job is performed in a temperature-controlled office environment at various district locations. It requires the use of a personal vehicle during the work day to provide onsite support and implementation of technology. The usual and customary methods of performing the functions of this job require the following physical demands: Frequent keyboarding and mousing throughout shift. Occasionally sit, twist, and lift, occasionally carry up to 40 pounds, occasionally climb a ladder and/or reach above shoulder level. Generally, the job requires 40% sitting, 15-25% walking, and 35-45% standing.
