    THE ROLE

    As a Technical Service Manager, you will be responsible for supporting and developing a team of Overhead Crane Service Technicians while ensuring customers receive timely, reliable, and professional service. This is a great permanent opportunity for an experienced overhead crane professional who enjoys a combination of hands-on technical work, leadership, customer interaction, and project support.

    You will act as a technical resource for service technicians, providing hands-on training and guidance while assisting with complex troubleshooting and service issues. You will also work closely with the Service Manager and Estimators to coordinate technicians, support quotations, manage service projects, and maintain strong customer relationships.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Coach and mentor Overhead Crane Service Technicians through onsite, hands-on training
    • Provide technical guidance and assistance during troubleshooting and resolution of complex crane issues
    • Perform onsite crane service work and participate in on-call rotations for emergency situations
    • Assist the Service Manager with assigning technicians to jobs based on their skills and experience
    • Ensure jobs are completed within estimated parameters and work with the Service Manager and Estimator to make adjustments as required
    • Maintain strong relationships with customers and address service concerns
    • Support the development of Overhead Crane Service sales
    • Assist Estimators with preparing and submitting quotations
    • Conduct onsite visits to gather information for quotations and modification/upgrade projects
    • Follow up with customers regarding Purchase Orders and prepare work orders
    • Provide technicians with clear direction regarding the type and location of work to be completed
    • Prepare scopes of work for technicians and customers for modification and upgrade projects
    • Support team development through regular meetings, coaching, and performance management
    • Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and new crane technologies
    • Support the development and implementation of standardized service procedures
    • Ensure compliance with OHSA regulations and company safety policies and procedures
    • Report incidents, accidents, near misses, and workplace hazards
    • Provide support to the Service Manager in their absence or as required
    • Perform other duties as assigned


    REQUIREMENTS:

    • Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar role
    • Previous overhead crane experience
    • Strong technical expertise in crane systems and equipment
    • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
    • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage, coach, and motivate a team
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to confidently interact with customers, technicians, estimators, and internal stakeholders
    • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities
    • Intermediate computer skills, including MS Office
    • Willingness to travel to customer sites for service visits and inspections
    • Availability to respond to emergency service calls outside of regular business hours
    • Valid driver's license and clean driving record
