The Technical Services Representative drives sales for the General Industrial division in a specific geographic territory by providing product and application support and information as well as sales expertise. This position will travel to various sites to liaison between technical, sales, and operations (plants and facilities), and answer customers' technical or scientific questions regarding products, service, operation, and maintenance.
Job duties involve contact with customers, which may include minors; and access to cash and other payment methods, electronic equipment, personal information, store merchandise and other items of value, and such access may be supervised or unsupervised. Minimum Requirements:
- Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age
- Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without needing sponsorship for employment work visa status now or in the future
- Must have a valid, unrestricted Driver's License
- Must be willing to work all scheduled hours, which may include evenings and weekends, with or without reasonable accommodation
- Must be able, with or without reasonable accommodation, to retrieve material from shelves and floor stacks and lift and carry up to 50 lbs. frequently and up to 70 lbs. on occasion
- Willingness to travel as required for this position
Preferred Qualifications:
- Have at least one (1) year of experience in a technical service role in the paint and/or coatings industry
- Have at least one (1) year of work experience in customer service, retail, or sales
- Have at least one (1) year of work experience in industrial maintenance
- Have at least one (1) year of work experience using material handling equipment (for example: forklifts (stand and sit), pallet jacks, hand trucks, order pickers, vacu-hoists, drum dollies, conveyor belts, etc.)
- Have an associate degree or higher in Maintenance, Science, Technology, Engineering, Business, Sales, or Marketing
- Have completed a field technician internship and/or apprenticeship
- Have previous work experience selling or supporting the sales function for metal and plastic coatings and related products
- Willingness to relocate for future job opportunities

- Research and communicate product knowledge and trends in General Industrial markets and technologies
- Communicate competitive information, new products, and selling issues to Sales Force
- Effectively build relationships with customers by understanding and supporting their business
- Assist customers with identifying their paint specification, product inventory control, and re-ordering needs
- Advise customers of applications product line changes and improvements.
- Train customers on product knowledge and application methods
- Respond to and resolve any customer complaints
- Manage product test runs and conduct technical training at designated customer facilities
- Assist with equipment installations and various line or equipment modifications/adjustments
- Assist Sales Representatives in generating leads
- Assist Sales Representatives by preparing samples, panels, etc. for presentations
- Provide technical support for product demonstrations
- Operate tinting, mixing, and industrial material handling equipment including forklifts (stand and sit), pallet jacks, hand trucks, order pickers, vacu-hoists, drum dollies, conveyor belts, etc. in an efficient and safe manner
- Troubleshoot on-line technical problems, such as correcting batches and formulation of products, and partner with laboratory to resolve technical issues
- Research and communicate product knowledge and trends in General Industrial markets and technologies
- Communicate competitive information, new products, and selling issues to Sales Force
- Effectively build relationships with customers by understanding and supporting their business
