Compensation: $115,000–$150,000 base salary + annual bonus

Employment Type: Full-Time

About the Opportunity

A growing U.S. manufacturer serving the residential, commercial, and industrial building markets is seeking an Engineering Applications Consultant to help drive product adoption at the design and specification stage.

This is a highly technical customer-facing role focused on influencing architects, engineers, consultants, and design-build firms to incorporate products into project specifications. Rather than traditional sales focused on pricing and bids, this position centers on technical consultation, engineering discussions, application support, and relationship building with the design community.

The ideal candidate enjoys discussing systems, solving technical problems, and helping engineers identify the best solution for their projects.

What You'll Do
  • Build relationships with architects, consulting engineers, MEP firms, design-build contractors, and other technical influencers.
  • Drive specification adoption by positioning products as the preferred design solution on construction projects.
  • Conduct technical presentations, Lunch & Learns, training sessions, and product demonstrations.
  • Partner with manufacturer representatives and channel partners to expand market presence.
  • Provide application guidance, design recommendations, and technical support throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Review project plans, blueprints, architectural drawings, and technical specifications to identify opportunities.
  • Assist engineers and designers with product selection and system integration.
  • Support commercial, industrial, and residential projects nationwide.
  • Track market trends, emerging technologies, and competitive activity.
  • Attend industry events, trade shows, and customer meetings.
  • Collaborate closely with sales, engineering, product management, and leadership teams.

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
  • 3+ years of experience in engineering, technical sales, applications engineering, consulting, or specification-driven sales.
  • Ability to read and interpret:
  • Construction blueprints
  • Architectural drawings
  • Electrical schematics
  • System diagrams
  • Strong understanding of electrical, mechanical, HVAC, building systems, or related technologies.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills.
  • Ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Self-motivated with strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Must reside in Washington State.

Preferred Experience

Experience in one or more of the following areas is highly desirable:
  • MEP consulting engineering
  • HVAC systems
  • Electrical products or power systems
  • Building automation
  • Industrial equipment
  • Applied equipment sales
  • Manufacturer representative organizations
  • Construction technology
  • Commercial building systems
  • Product specification and Basis of Design influence

What Success Looks Like

In this role, you'll become a trusted technical resource to the engineering community, helping shape project specifications long before products reach the bidding stage. Success will come from building credibility with engineers, understanding project requirements, and creating long-term relationships that drive sustained market growth.

This position offers a unique opportunity for an engineer or technically-minded professional who enjoys customer interaction and wants to transition into a consultative, market-facing role with significant career growth potential.

Why Consider This Role?
  • National impact with a well-established manufacturer
  • Highly technical, consultative environment
  • Opportunity to influence major construction projects early in the design process
  • Strong leadership support and career growth potential
  • Collaborative culture with direct access to engineering and executive leadership
  • Competitive compensation and bonus opportunity
  • Hybrid work environment with meaningful autonomy
