Technical Project Manager
Location: Overland Park, KS - 3 days per week onsite
Pay: $55.00 - $60.00/hr
Multi year contact
Our client is hiring a Technical Project Manager to lead a high-visibility software delivery initiative. The role sits on the business side of the house and works closely with development, product, QA, and operations teams. They need someone who will own the plan, keep everyone honest about dates and commitments, and adjust the plan when the work changes. This is a hands-on role for someone who likes being in the details.
What You'll Do
- Build and own the project plan, including timelines, milestones, dependencies, and Gantt charts
- Work backward from key deliverables to set clear dates for development, review, and testing, then hold teams to them
- Track commitments across teams and follow up when dates slip
- When scope or priorities change, figure out what has to give (time, people, or scope) and make sure the plan reflects it
- Keep clear, written documentation of decisions, scope, and commitments so there is one source of truth
- Run status meetings and give regular updates to stakeholders across the business and technology teams
- Build status reports and presentation decks for different audiences
- Coordinate with QA and UAT leads to make sure testing stays on track
- Act as an advocate for the overall project, not any single team, and call out bottlenecks wherever they come from
- Take on additional projects and integrations as capacity allows
What You Bring
- 5+ years of project management experience on complex technology initiatives with many workstreams and moving parts
- Experience in a regulated industry such as insurance, banking, or financial services
- Enough technical depth to understand development work, challenge estimates, and talk credibly with engineers, without losing sight of business goals
- Experience delivering in hybrid Agile/Waterfall environments where priorities shift
- Strong planning and documentation habits: schedules, Gantt charts, RAID logs, and decision tracking
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, comfortable presenting to stakeholders at every level
- The confidence to hold people accountable and have hard conversations, plus the relationship skills to keep everyone working together
Nice to Have
- Azure DevOps experience (strong Jira users who can learn ADO will be considered)
- Experience with Confluence and SharePoint for project documentation
- Background as a senior or lead Business Analyst or Product lead before moving into project management
- Exposure to release management or CI/CD processes
- Experience on a development-led project or program
- PMP or Agile certification
