Role: Technical Program Manager
Experience : 15 years, 5 years as Technical Program Manager
Location: Sunnyvale, CA (On-site)
Rate: 70 USD/H on contract or 175K per year on Full time (include 15% QPLC) + benefits
Roles & Responsibilities
Program & Delivery Management
- Own end-to-end program planning across hardware (Lightbridge/Pro terminals), firmware/embedded, and the Prism management software - including roadmaps, milestones, dependencies, and release schedules.
- Coordinate hardware/software co-development cycles, aligning silicon photonics and optical hardware timelines (e.g., Prism next-gen chip-based platform) with software feature delivery.
- Manage risk, critical path, and trade-off decisions; maintain a single source of truth for status across engineering, product, operations, and leadership.
- Run agile ceremonies, program reviews, and executive readouts; escalate blockers with clear mitigation plans.
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Serve as the connective tissue between Optical/RF/HW engineering, embedded firmware, cloud/software (Prism app), QA, supply chain/manufacturing, field deployment, and product management.
- Coordinate carrier integration requirements (FCAPS - Fault, Configuration, Accounting, Performance, Security) into both product and management-app roadmaps.
- Partner with field/deployment teams to ensure installability, beam-alignment/commissioning workflows, and network reliability targets are met.
Technical Oversight
- Understand the system architecture: laser/optical link performance, beam-steering/alignment, hybrid failover (radio/fiber backup), telemetry, and the Prism app''s monitoring/orchestration layer.
- Drive requirements and acceptance criteria for reliability (uptime, latency, link stability in adverse weather), interoperability, and manageability.
- Oversee test/validation programs, field trials, and go-to-market readiness (regulatory/eye-safety compliance, certifications).
Stakeholder & Vendor Management
- Manage relationships with hardware vendors, contract manufacturers, and carrier customers/partners.
- Communicate progress, risks, and dependencies clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders including senior leadership.
Skills & Qualifications Required
- 10+ years in technical program/project management, ideally in telecom, networking, hardware, or hardware+software (HW/SW) integrated products.
- Proven track record shipping complex programs spanning hardware, firmware, and software simultaneously.
- Strong understanding of networking/telecom concepts (IP/optical transport, link reliability, FCAPS, carrier-grade requirements).
- Excellent risk management, dependency mapping, and cross-functional coordination skills.
- Fluency with agile/scrum and program tools (Jira, Confluence, roadmapping tools).
- Outstanding written and verbal communication; ability to translate between deeply technical teams and executives.
Strongly Preferred
- Familiarity with Free-Space Optics (FSO), photonics, RF/microwave, laser systems, or optical networking.
- Experience with silicon photonics / hardware NPI (New Product Introduction) and manufacturing ramp.
- Exposure to network management systems / NMS / SDN-style orchestration software (relevant to the Prism Management Application).
- Experience with carrier/telco customer deployments and field operations.
- Understanding of regulatory and eye-safety/compliance frameworks for laser-based products.
Education
- Bachelor''s in Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical/Optical Engineering, ECE or related field (Master''s or PMP a plus).
