    Description

The AWS Data Center Availability Serviceability team works with hundreds of AWS data centers globally to deliver the highest quality and lowest cost availability, capacity, and scaling results for our customers. We standardize operations globally by delivering tools, policy, processes, and procedures to our internal teams.

Serviceability is the ability to maintain, repair, and manage infrastructure assets efficiently throughout their lifecycle -- encompassing maintenance standards, spares management, training and certifications, operational readiness, and the systematic use of data and automation to prevent disruptions and drive continuous improvement.

We are seeking a Technical Program Manager to support serviceability for liquid cooling infrastructure in AWS data centers. Liquid cooling is a new and fast-growing technology that supports the next generation of high-density compute, including AI and machine learning workloads. This role will define how liquid-cooled equipment is maintained, serviced and kept ready to operate as we scale from early deployments to a global fleet.

    What you will do:

You will support the serviceability program for liquid cooling across the AWS fleet. You will write and maintain preventive maintenance (PM) guidelines for liquid cooling components, such as coolant distribution, heat exchange and fluid management systems. You will build these guidelines with Operations, Data Center Engineering Operations (DCEO) and equipment vendors. You will partner with Finance on labor analyses that turn maintenance needs into staffing plans. You will work with Field Engineering to lead root cause analyses on maintenance and equipment findings, and you will make sure the lessons feed back into PM standards and procedures. You will work with Operations and site teams to build operational readiness plans for new liquid-cooled sites, then track readiness so every site is ready to operate safely and reliably from day one. You will also run field trials and stakeholder workshops to check procedures, collect feedback and drive continuous improvement.

    It’s Always Day 1
At Amazon, it’s always “Day 1.” Now, what does this mean and why does it matter? It means that our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon’s very first day – to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and stay focused on delighting our customers. In our 2016 shareholder letter, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos shared his thoughts on how to keep up a Day 1 company mindset. “Staying in Day 1 requires you to experiment patiently, accept failures, plant seeds, protect saplings, and double down when you see customer delight,” he wrote. “A customer-obsessed culture best creates the conditions where all of that can happen.” You can read the full letter here

    Our Leadership Principles
Our Leadership Principles help us keep a Day 1 mentality. They aren’t just a pretty inspirational wall hanging. Amazonians use them, every day, whether they’re discussing ideas for new projects, deciding on the best solution for a customer’s problem, or interviewing candidates.
