If you're passionate about using technology to improve human life, this is where your work truly matters What you will accomplish in this role The Director, Technical Product Manager is a cross-domain product leader responsible for managing the enterprise reusable capability roadmap and overseeing the intake and prioritization of technology requests across multiple domains. This role ensures technology investments align to shared capabilities, enterprise architecture, and scalable solutions that maximize reuse and business value. Within the Digital Transformation & Innovation (DT&I) organization, this leader strengthens product management maturity, technical rigor, and delivery effectiveness by coaching Domain Leaders, Product Owners, and Digital Product Analysts (DPAs). They advise on complex technical and cross-domain product decisions while partnering with stakeholders across the Data Office, AI Office, Design, IT, and Operations. Working closely with executive leadership, engineering, enterprise architecture, data, design, and operations, this person identifies opportunities to standardize capabilities, reduce duplication, and build reusable technical solutions that support enterprise growth. By scaling product strategy and technical best practices across domains, they enable consistent decision-making, stronger cross-functional collaboration, and resilient delivery. Technical Product Managers report to the Associate Vice President, Technical Product Strategy and Excellence and partner closely with Domain Leaders, Enterprise Architecture, Engineering, Design, Data, and Operations leadership. What you will do: Serve as technical product advisor and product excellence coach to Domain Leaders, Product Owners, and Digital Product Analysts (DPAs), driving consistent upskilling and strengthening strategic, outcome-oriented product thinking. Coach teams on effective technical collaboration, including scoping, dependency management, inspection, and tradeoff decision-making. Provide embedded, hands-on support to Domain Leaders and Product Owners to accelerate delivery and product maturity, particularly during periods of transition or capacity risk. Identify cross-pod and cross-domain opportunities, risks, and dependencies, surfacing insights that inform better prioritization and coordination. Surface and manage the roadmap of shared reusable technical and user-experience capabilities (e.g., reusable components, platforms, data assets, or experience patterns) with applicability across multiple domains. Advise at both the pod and cross-domain level on which capabilities should be elevated into DT&I's unified portfolio strategy. Partner with Domain Leaders and technical leadership to mitigate delivery risks associated with complexity, attrition, or capability gaps. Act as a force multiplier across DT&I by scaling product and technical best practices, improving consistency without constraining domain autonomy. Elevate systemic issues, patterns, and recommendations to the AVP, Technical Product Management to inform enterprise-level decision-making. At the Senior Director level, serve as a mentor to other Technical Product Managers and lead complex, multi-domain initiatives with high enterprise visibility. Performs other duties as assigned Practices and adheres to the "Code of Conduct" philosophy and "Mission and Value Statement." What qualifications you will need: Bachelor's degree Computer Technology or related field Required Master's degree in Business or related field Preferred 3+ years of experience in a leadership role Required 7+ years of experience in technical product management Required Demonstrated success operating at the Director or Senior Director level, influencing outcomes across multiple teams, pods, or domains Required Experience working in matrixed organizations, partnering with Domain Leaders, Engineering, Data, and Design leadership Preferred Strong technical fluency with the ability to: Partner effectively with Software Engineering, Data Engineering, and Architecture leaders Understand platform, shared capability, and data product models Translate technical constraints and opportunities into product decisions Required Experience supporting or delivering data, analytics, platform, or AI-enabled products Required Credibility to advise on technical tradeoffs, feasibility, and scalability, even when not the final decision-maker Required Experience managing, supporting, or delivering technically complex solutions in a highly regulated environment, healthcare industry experience preferred Preferred Understanding of the business of healthcare, particularly provider/hospital operations preferred Preferred Experience operating in or delivering large scale digital, product, or AI transformation initiatives Preferred Proven ability to identify cross-pod and cross-domain opportunities, risks, and dependencies Required Experience surfacing shared technical or experience capabilities that warrant broader reuse or portfolio-level consideration Required Demonstrated ability to: - Coach teams on product management best practices - Improve discovery, prioritization, scoping, and inspection discipline - Strengthen technical collaboration between product and engineering Required Experience helping teams transition from delivery-focused execution to outcome-oriented product thinking Preferred Strong influencing skills; comfortable navigating ambiguity and competing priorities Required Ability to synthesize complex technical and business inputs into clear recommendations Required Experience supporting teams through complex delivery challenges, including: - Cross-team dependencies - Shared platform constraints Resource or capability gaps Required Strong systems thinking and analytical problem-solving skills Required Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences Required Comfort operating "in the work" when needed while maintaining a strategic lens Required Willingness to challenge assumptions, ask hard questions, and elevate issues constructively Required High learning agility and curiosity about emerging technologies and product practices Required Experience in large-scale, regulated, or highly complex enterprises Preferred Prior experience in platform, shared services, or enablement product roles Preferred Service and Quality Excellence: Ability to demonstrate an uncompromising commitment to delivering exceptional care to create an unmatched value proposition for our patients Required Honor our Mission and Values: Ability to build trust and act with authenticity to cultivate a culture of integrity, inclusion, and mutual respect Required Effective Decision Making: Ability to make timely, informed decisions that are in the best interest of our patients, employees, providers, community and HCA Required Attain and Leverage Strategic Relationships: Ability to develop and strengthen collaborative relationships with both internal and external stakeholders to advance the care of our patients and the growth of HCA Required Lead and Develop Others: Ability to lead others to accomplish organizational goals and objectives; provide meaningful coaching and mentoring to increase the capabilities of individuals and teams and drive employee engagement Required Communicate with Impact: Ability to deliver information in a clear, concise, and compelling manner to effectively engage others and achieve desired results Required Achieve Success through Change: Ability to identify opportunities for improvement and innovation, remove barriers and resistance, and enable desired behaviors Required At HCA Healthcare, we are committed to fostering a culture of growth that allows you to build the career of a lifetime.
