Position Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced
Data Center Technician Interviewer to support and strengthen the technician hiring process. This role is responsible for conducting structured technical interviews, evaluating candidate readiness, and ensuring consistency and quality across all technician hiring decisions.
The ideal candidate is a former data center or field technician who has progressed into a hiring or leadership role, with a strong understanding of both technical competencies and effective interview practices. This individual brings a balanced perspectivecombining real-world experience with the ability to assess talent objectively and professionally.
Key Responsibilities
Interviewing & Candidate Assessment
- Conduct structured technical interviews for data center technician candidates across various experience levels.
- Evaluate candidate proficiency in areas such as hardware installation, cabling, troubleshooting, and data center operations.
- Assess both technical capability and soft skills, including communication, reliability, and safety awareness.
- Provide clear, consistent, and unbiased interview feedback aligned with organizational hiring standards.
Interview Process Support & Coverage
- Step in to support or backfill hiring manager interview stages as needed to ensure continuity in the hiring process.
- Partner with recruiters and hiring managers to maintain efficient interview scheduling and throughput.
- Ensure a consistent and high-quality candidate experience throughout the interview process.
Interview Standards & Best Practices
- Apply structured interviewing techniques and follow established evaluation frameworks.
- Uphold best practices related to fair hiring, compliance, and unbiased candidate assessment.
- Identify gaps or inconsistencies in the interview process and recommend improvements.
Collaboration & Hiring Alignment
- Work closely with hiring managers, operations teams, and recruiting partners to align on role requirements and candidate profiles.
- Calibrate with interviewers and stakeholders to ensure consistency in candidate evaluation standards.
- Contribute to the ongoing refinement of interview questions, scorecards, and hiring criteria.
Required Skills & Competencies
Technical Expertise
- Strong hands-on experience in data center operations, including hardware installation, cabling, and troubleshooting.
- Solid understanding of data center environments, workflows, and technician responsibilities.
- Ability to accurately assess real-world technical skills and problem-solving ability.
Interviewing & Evaluation Skills
- Prior experience conducting interviews in a hiring manager or technical interviewer capacity.
- Strong understanding of effective interviewing techniques, including structured technical and behavioral interviewing.
- Ability to evaluate candidates objectively and provide clear, actionable feedback.
Professional Skills
- Clear and confident communicator with strong interpersonal skills.
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple interviews and competing priorities.
- Detail-oriented and consistent in evaluation and documentation.
- Demonstrates professionalism, sound judgment, and a commitment to fair hiring practices.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Data Center Technician, Lead Technician, or similar field-based role.
- Experience serving as a hiring manager or regularly participating in structured interview panels.
- Familiarity with Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) and interview coordination processes.
- Experience hiring for data center, infrastructure, or technical operations roles.
