Technical Engineer III

CTG is seeking to fill a Technical Engineer III opening for our client.

Location: Buffalo, NY
Duration: 12 months

Primary Responsibilities:

• Manage patch deployment across Linux, Windows, .NET, and Java environments.
• Develop and implement automated patch management solutions using Ansible, Python, and related tools.
• Design and improve patch management tools, processes, and operational workflows.
• Read and create architecture diagrams and technical documentation.
• Partner with Technology management, senior engineers, support teams, vendors, and business stakeholders to design and implement technical solutions.
• Support infrastructure design, implementation, testing, standards, policies, and risk controls.
• Mentor less experienced engineers and review technical documentation, proposals, and changes.
• Identify and escalate technology and risk issues as appropriate.

Scope of Responsibilities:

• Serve as an advanced technologist for assigned technologies and infrastructure.
• Translate complex business and technical requirements into effective solutions.
• Apply industry best practices and standards to enterprise technology environments.
• Maintain knowledge of applications, systems, development environments, and vendor technologies.
• Support continuous improvement of patch management and infrastructure operations.

Supervisory/Managerial Responsibilities:

• Mentor and coach less experienced engineers, technicians, and integrators.
• Review technical documentation, proposals, and changes developed by junior staff.
• Coordinate vendor resources and interactions as needed.

Education and Experience Required:

• Minimum 6 years of combined higher education and/or professional experience in technical engineering, systems design, management, or architecture.
• Strong experience with Linux and Windows Server environments, .NET, Java, and related application frameworks.
• Experience automating operational processes using Ansible and Python.
• Experience with patch management tools such as Ivanti and SCCM.
• Strong technical, analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

Education and Experience Preferred:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• 6+ years of professional experience in infrastructure design, system architecture, development, or complex application environments.
• Ability to translate complex business and functional requirements into structured technical solutions and document system specifications.
• Knowledge of server/client, virtualization, and infrastructure technologies.
• Strong communication, facilitation, collaboration, and influencing skills.
• Ability to work independently, adapt quickly, and learn new technologies in a fast-paced environment.

Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group are required.
