Job Title: Technical Engineer Contractor

About the Role
We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Technical Engineer to join our client's team in the engineering sector. In this role, you will contribute to providing technical expertise and support in the development, implementation, and maintenance of engineering solutions. You will be responsible for designing and developing technical solutions to address complex engineering problems, conducting system integration, testing, and validation, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and provide technical guidance.
Responsibilities
- Lead offshore development and production support teams through sprint planning, code reviews, release readiness, and incident management.
- Recommend and decide on data models, partitioning, and performance strategy. Set standards for PL/pgSQL, ETL, logging, and reconciliation.
- Develop complex PL/pgSQL procedures and functions, and optimize high-volume batch and incremental ETL/ELT pipelines.
- Triage upstream issues, manage downstream impact on reports and extracts, and deliver root-cause fixes with proactive checks and alerts.
- Translate requirements into solutions and communicate risks and status clearly to senior stakeholders.
Requirements
- Expert-level knowledge of PostgreSQL core, including internals, PL/pgSQL, advanced SQL, triggers, and materialized views.
- Proficiency in performance tuning and extensions such as postgres_fdw, pg_cron, and pg_repack.
- Experience with high availability and disaster recovery solutions.
- Strong skills in security and monitoring, including RBAC, row-level security, and managed Postgres.
- Proven record leading offshore development and production teams, with strong stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with data warehousing and ETL, including dimensional modeling and Oracle-to-PostgreSQL migration.
- Familiarity with orchestration tools such as Airflow.
