POSITION OVERVIEW

The Technical Designer is responsible for the creation, maintenance, and approval of tech packs in PLM to effectively instruct suppliers and factories in the creation of samples and production-ready garments. Tech packs must include measurements to define fit, construction sketches, imagery to communicate design intent, and all required technical data, metrics, and instructions.

The Technical Designer partners closely with Design, Product Management, Pattern Making, and global sourcing partners to ensure products are executed to design intent while meeting quality, fit, construction, and calendar requirements. This role applies established departmental tools, standards, and processes to support seasonal product execution and successful commercialization

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Contribute to the evolution of departmental tools and processes through feedback and participation.• Build strong working relationships with internal and external business partners.• Support departmental initiatives and special projects as assigned.• Utilize departmental tools, reports, and processes to manage workload and product status.• Monitor workload and calendar deliverables to ensure deadlines and milestones are achieved.• Support fit sessions, sample reviews, and product evaluations to ensure alignment to design intent and quality standards.• Own the integrity and completion of assigned tech packs from creation through production approval.• Partner with global Technical Design teams, Product Management, Design, Pattern Making, and suppliers throughout the product lifecycle.• Own "Tech Pack Reviews" to ensure complete and accurate information is uploaded and maintained in PLM.• Ensure all measurements, construction details, fit requirements, sketches, imagery, and product data are accurately documented.• Create and maintain tech packs in PLM using established departmental tools, templates, and standards to support product development and production.• Send appropriate recaps to ensure alignment on pipelines, construction details, sketch requirements, and next steps.• Attend hand-off meetings, board reviews, line reviews, and key milestone meetings as needed.• Ensure that a complete hand-off is received from Design/PMT with all appropriate components needed to build a complete tech pack.

EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE

Please note: Candidates may be asked to participate in an on-site fit test as part of the interview process. The fit test may last up to two hours and will evaluate the candidate's ability to assess garment fit, analyze construction, and communicate technical fit recommendations.Computer Skills: Gerber, PLM, Adobe Illustrator, MS Outlook, MS Excel, MS Word• Demonstrates accountability, adaptability, and a commitment to continuous learning.• Working knowledge of Gerber, PLM, Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.• Knowledge of Browzwear or other 3D applications preferred.• Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator required.• Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional and global environment.• Ability to proactively identify and resolve problems.• Attention to detail and sense of urgency.• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.• Strong verbal and written communication skills.• Strong understanding of garment construction, fit, and apparel manufacturing processes.• Degree or certification in Apparel Manufacturing, Design, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
