Technical Business Analyst Transformation Engineering

Reports to: Enterprise Architect

Overview of the role

The Technical Business Analyst will join the Transformation Engineering Team and bridge business operations with software engineering. The role will document how work happens today, uncover data and system dependencies, and translate business needs into clear functional and technical requirements.

The analyst must combine strong business analysis with enough technical depth to understand applications, integrations, databases, APIs and modernization decisions.

Key Responsibilities

" Lead discovery sessions with business, operations, Product and technology stakeholders.

" Document current and future workflows, including manual work, duplicate entry, reconciliation and exception handling.

" Map applications, integrations, data movement, ownership and system dependencies.

" Identify business rules, decision points, lifecycle stages and hidden logic embedded across systems.

" Translate business needs into functional requirements, technical requirements, user stories and acceptance criteria.

" Define data ownership, source-of-truth expectations, mappings and interface requirements.

" Support API and service-contract definition with architects and engineers.

" Analyze change impact across workflows, integrations, reports and downstream consumers.

" Support prioritization, scope definition, estimates, dependency planning and release sequencing.

" Partner with QA to define test scenarios, traceability and business acceptance criteria.

" Coordinate user acceptance testing, cutover preparation, training and adoption activities.

" Maintain decisions, requirements and traceability from discovery through production.

" Surface risks, conflicts and missing ownership early and communicate them clearly.

Required Qualifications

" Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business or a related field, or equivalent experience.

" 5 or more years of business analysis, systems analysis or technical product experience.

" Experience supporting software transformation, integration or workflow modernization initiatives.

" Working knowledge of software applications, APIs, databases and system integrations.

" Strong process-mapping, requirements, user-story and acceptance-criteria skills.

" Experience working in Agile delivery environments with Product, Engineering and QA.

" Ability to analyze data, workflows, exceptions and cross-system dependencies.

" Strong facilitation, documentation and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

" Experience in healthcare, diagnostics, genomics or laboratory operations.

" Experience with legacy modernization, domain-based services or capability ownership.

" Working knowledge of SQL, REST APIs, JSON and data-flow diagrams.

" Experience with BPMN or comparable workflow notation and modern diagramming tools.

" Knowledge of authentication, role-based access, audit logging and privacy controls.

" Experience with data migration, parallel validation and controlled cutover.

" Technical education or prior software development experience.

" Experience using AI-assisted analysis and documentation tools responsibly.
