Job Overview:
Our client is seeking a highly analytical and technically proficient Technical Business Analyst to support Payment Operations, production troubleshooting, and transaction processing environments. The candidate will act as the bridge between business, operations, support, and engineering teams by investigating payment issues, analyzing transaction flows, reviewing application logs, validating APIs, and performing data analysis to identify root causes and drive resolution. The candidate should possess strong technical troubleshooting skills along with a solid understanding of payment processing, banking, or financial services environments. Experience with real-time payment systems, transaction lifecycle management, and production support is highly desirable.
Responsibilities:
Payment Operations Support:
- Monitor and support payment processing operations across multiple payment rails and transaction channels.
- Investigate payment exceptions, transaction failures, reconciliation discrepancies, and processing delays.
- Analyze payment transaction lifecycles and identify operational bottlenecks.
- Collaborate with Operations, Product, Technology, and Vendor teams to resolve production incidents.
Technical Analysis & Troubleshooting:
- Perform detailed root cause analysis (RCA) for production issues and payment processing failures.
- Review applications, middleware, and system logs to identify transaction failures and integration issues.
- Analyze end-to-end transaction flows and connect data points across multiple systems.
- Translate business problems into technical findings and actionable recommendations.
API & Integration Validation:
- Test and validate REST/SOAP APIs using tools such as Postman or Swagger.
- Troubleshoot API failures, authentication issues, response discrepancies, and integration defects.
- Analyze API request/response payloads and recommend corrective actions.
Data Analysis & Reporting:
- Query databases using SQL to investigate transaction data and operational issues.
- Perform data validation, reconciliation, and trend analysis.
- Develop reports and dashboards to support operational monitoring and issue management.
- Identify recurring issues and recommend process improvements.
Requirements & Stakeholder Management:
- Gather, document, and analyze business and technical requirements.
- Create user stories, process flows, business rules, and functional specifications.
- Facilitate discussions between business users, operations teams, and engineering teams.
- Support UAT, production validation, and release readiness activities.
Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for automation and operational efficiency improvements.
- Contribute to incident management, knowledge management, and process documentation.
- Assist in defining monitoring and alerting requirements for payment applications.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, Technical Business Analyst, Production Support Analyst, Software Engineer, SDET, or similar role.
- Hands-on experience supporting payment processing systems or financial transaction platforms.
- Strong understanding of application troubleshooting and production support processes.
- Experience reviewing application logs and system events to diagnose issues.
- Proficiency in SQL for data analysis and investigation.
- Experience testing APIs using Postman, Swagger, or similar tools.
- Knowledge of REST APIs, JSON, XML, and integration concepts.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in Banking, Payments, FinTech, Card Processing, Merchant Services, or Financial Services domains.
- Knowledge of payment processing concepts including ACH, Wire Transfers, RTP (Real-Time Payments), FedNow, Card Payments, ISO 20022, and SWIFT Messaging.
- Experience with Client , Kibana, Dynatrace, AppDynamics, or similar monitoring/log management tools.
- Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Familiarity with incident management and ITIL processes.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
- Experience with C, Python, AIML, Grafana, and Kubernetes.
