Role: Technical Infrastructure Architect
Location: Remote with some Travel to Atlanta, GA
Duration: Six-Twelve Months with possible extension
Start Date: Immediate
Position Overview:
- We are seeking a seasoned Principal Enterprise Infrastructure Architect to define and govern our global, multi-domain infrastructure strategy. This role bridges traditional mission-critical platforms (z/OS Mainframe, Midrange, Unix, and Wintel) with modern private, public (AWS/Azure), and hybrid-cloud topologies.
- The ideal candidate brings deep architectural gravitas spanning physical data centers, core networking, enterprise SAN/NAS storage, and cloud infrastructure, paired with the executive communication skills needed to lead high-stakes modernization roadmaps and steering committees.
Key Responsibilities:
-
Enterprise Modernization Strategy: Architect and steer multi-year modernization and data center consolidation roadmaps, decoupling legacy monoliths while preserving high availability, compliance, and disaster recovery.
-
Multi-Domain Architecture Governance: Establish target-state architectures spanning Mainframe (z/OS), Midrange, Unix (AIX/Solaris), Wintel, and enterprise SAN/NAS storage alongside AWS/Azure hybrid environments.
-
Network & Data Center Fabric Design: Drive architectural decisions across core enterprise networks (LAN/WAN), cloud interconnects, and hybrid data center operations to minimize latency and ensure operational resilience.
-
Executive Advisory & Technical Leadership: Serve as a trusted advisor to CTO, CIO, and business unit leaders; translate complex infrastructure tradeoffs into clear business cases, risk profiles, and investment strategies.
-
Architecture Governance & Standards: Define enterprise infrastructure patterns, lead architecture review boards (ARBs), and author technical reference architectures for cross-functional engineering teams.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
-
15+ years of progressive experience in enterprise infrastructure architecture, systems engineering, and large-scale data center transformation.
-
Demonstrated multi-tower expertise across legacy compute (z/OS Mainframe, Midrange AS400/iSeries, Unix/AIX, Windows Server), enterprise storage (SAN/NAS/Fiber Channel), and core data center networking.
-
Proven track record leading major infrastructure modernization programs (e.g., data center consolidation, legacy-to-cloud migration, hybrid cloud enablement).
-
Strong working knowledge of hybrid cloud architectures across AWS and/or Azure, with an understanding of hybrid connectivity, security controls, and egress considerations.
-
Exceptional executive communication and presentation skills, with demonstrated experience leading architectural reviews and technical steering committees.
-
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent enterprise leadership experience.
