General Description

JOIN OUR TEAM AS A TECHNICAL ANALYST II - SECURITY

This role is responsible for the detection, prevention and resolution of security threats to computer networks and plays an important role in maintaining the integrity and confidentiality of Pasco Countys data and information systems, additional responsibilities may include analysis, design, implementation, configuration, testing, documentation, and troubleshooting of security events to ensure the confidentiality, integrity and availability of systems and business applications.

Essential Job Functions

Supports cross-functional IT teams in maintaining secure and compliant systems. Performs regular monitoring of security alerts, investigates suspicious activity, and escalates complex issues to senior engineers. Conducts routine vulnerability scans and provides analysis of findings with recommended next steps. Maintains working knowledge of security standards such as NIST, ISO 27001, and CIS Controls. Participates in vendor-led training to stay current on tools and practices that strengthen security posture. Implements established security procedures, assists with applying security configurations, and updates documentation as needed. Provides user support for security tools, compliance requirements, and general security inquiries. Participates in incident response by gathering logs, performing initial triage, and supporting containment and remediation efforts. Contributes to post-incident summaries and improvements to existing processes. Performs related duties supporting day-to-day security operations with moderate independence and sound judgment.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of security best practices including documentation, scheduling, and troubleshooting methods.
  • Knowledge of security monitoring technologies, concepts, and standards, e.g. SIEM, vulnerability scanning and remediation, IDS, IPS, and technical policy writing.
  • Knowledge of incidence response, threat hunting, forensics, threat intelligence and security audits.
  • Knowledge of endpoint protection technologies, concepts, and standards, e.g. scanning, quarantining, and segmenting of devices that show any indicators of compromise.
  • Knowledge of server and workstation technologies, concepts and standards, e.g. web servers, APIs, patch management, IP Networks, DNS, relational databases and securing data flows.
  • Familiarity of security management frameworks: NIST, ISO 27001, & CIS controls.
  • Knowledge of applicable methodologies, tools, standards, and procedures.
  • Ability to multi-task between operational and project task.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Proficient in project planning: estimation of tasks, time, and team size requirements.
  • Ability to demonstrate strong team-oriented interpersonal skills.

Minimum Requirements

PHYSICAL SKILLS: Ability to communicate effectively using verbal, written and visual communication.

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's Degree in a related filed and two (2) years experience in implementing and maintenance of security applications, OR a Bachelors Degree in Cybersecurity or related field and four (4) years experience in implementing and maintenance of security applications OR graduation from an accredited college or university with an Associate Degree in Cybersecurity or related field and six (6) years experience in implementing and maintenance of security applications and hold an Intermediate certification in Forensics, Incident Handling, Intrusion Detection, or Monitoring from EC-Council, Offensive Security, GIAC, ISACA, ISC2, and/or FITSP. Multiple advanced certifications in Forensics, Incident Handling, Intrusion Detection, or Monitoring from EC-Council, Offensive Security, GIAC, ISACA, ISC2, and/or FITSP may substitue for the years of experience above pending the certifications.
