Title: Enterprise Systems Architect / Technical Integration Lead

Location: Fort Meade, MD (Onsite)

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Enterprise Systems Architect / Technical Integration Lead to support a large-scale Department of Defense (DoD) enterprise environment at Fort Meade, Maryland. This individual will provide technical leadership, strategic planning, architecture development, systems engineering guidance, and enterprise integration support across complex communications, networking, cloud, and data center environments.

The ideal candidate possesses extensive experience supporting mission-critical DoD systems, developing enterprise architectures, advising senior leadership, and driving modernization initiatives across both legacy and emerging technology platforms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership and strategic recommendations for enterprise IT operational design, systems engineering, and architecture initiatives.
  • Analyze existing environments and recommend future-state architecture solutions aligned to organizational objectives and mission requirements.
  • Develop enterprise system architectures, technical designs, integration strategies, and implementation roadmaps.
  • Support modernization efforts involving cloud technologies, enterprise communications systems, network infrastructure, and data center services.
  • Review and contribute to technical proposals, engineering documentation, architectural assessments, and technology recommendations.
  • Identify communication service requirements and translate operational requirements into scalable technical solutions.
  • Support both legacy and future-state technologies while ensuring alignment with DCDC leadership vision and strategic objectives.
  • Identify, analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve complex network, infrastructure, and system issues across enterprise environments.
  • Develop executive-level briefings, strategic reports, roadmaps, and technical recommendations for senior leadership.
  • Provide technical consultation to engineers, architects, operational teams, and government stakeholders.
  • Support large-scale enterprise initiatives leveraging Agile, SAFe, and ITIL service management methodologies.
  • Collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders to ensure mission alignment, operational effectiveness, and successful technology adoption.

Required Technical Qualifications

Enterprise Architecture & Strategic Planning

  • Working knowledge of Joint Publication (JP) 5-0 planning methodologies.

  • Experience providing strategic guidance related to:

  • Enterprise operational design

  • System architecture

  • Systems engineering

  • Technical documentation

  • Technical proposal reviews

  • Experience developing:

  • System architectures

  • Technical designs

  • Enterprise integration plans

  • Implementation strategies

  • Technology modernization roadmaps

  • Demonstrated ability to align technical solutions with organizational mission objectives and leadership priorities.

Infrastructure & Enterprise Technology

Strong knowledge and experience supporting:

  • Local Area Networks (LAN)
  • Campus Area Networks (CAN)
  • Wide Area Networks (WAN)
  • Enterprise communications systems
  • Cloud computing environments
  • Data center operations
  • Server infrastructure
  • Enterprise networking technologies
  • Hybrid infrastructure environments

Experience with:

  • Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS)
  • Platform as a Service (PaaS)
  • Enterprise infrastructure modernization
  • Cloud migration initiatives
  • Systems integration and engineering

DoD Environment Experience

Knowledge of common DoD technologies and operational environments, including:

  • DoD enterprise services
  • Communications platforms
  • Security controls and processes
  • Network protection technologies
  • Data protection methodologies
  • Mission-critical infrastructure environments

Continuous Improvement & Service Management

  • Knowledge of Continuous Process Improvement (CPI) principles and methodologies.

  • Working knowledge of:

  • Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)

  • ITIL 4 Foundation principles

  • Experience supporting multiple large-scale enterprise IT systems and modernization initiatives.

Communication & Documentation

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Experience developing and presenting technical products and executive briefings to:

  • General Officers

  • Senior Executives

  • Senior Decision Makers

  • Experienced in writing, editing, and reviewing:

  • Technical documentation

  • Concepts of Operations (CONOPS)

  • Training plans

  • Strategic reports

  • Executive briefings

  • Engineering documentation

Required Education

  • Bachelors Degree or higher in:
  • Information Technology
  • Information Systems
  • Computer Science
  • Engineering
  • Or a related technical discipline

Required Experience

  • Minimum of 8 years of enterprise IT, systems engineering, architecture, infrastructure, or related technical experience.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting large-scale enterprise environments within the Department of Defense or other highly regulated organizations.

Required Certifications

Candidates must possess one (1) or more of the following certifications:

Cloud & Technology Certifications

  • Microsoft Certified (Azure, Data & AI, Modern Workplace, Dynamics 365, Business Applications, etc.)
  • AWS Certification
  • Google Cloud Platform (GCP) Certification
  • VMware Certification
  • Oracle Certification
  • Cisco Certification

IT Service Management & Project Management

  • ITIL 4 Foundation
  • Project Management Professional (PMP)
  • Agile/Scrum Certification

Cybersecurity Certifications

  • CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional)
  • CISM (Certified Information Security Manager)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Extensive experience supporting DoD enterprise modernization programs.
  • Experience operating within hybrid cloud and multi-cloud architectures.
  • Experience supporting large-scale network transformation initiatives.
  • Background in enterprise communications, systems integration, and strategic technology planning.
  • Prior experience briefing senior military leaders and government executives.
